A short trailer was recently released for the upcoming Godzilla movie:

I'm generally not very interested in movies, but I have to say this one in particular has me excited. It looks visually impressive, at least.

Anyone else looking forward to the release of this movie?

I got my kids Hooked on Godzilla, we have most of the old CD's. We can't wait for it to come out.

My favorite Godzilla Final Wars

Most recent Godzilla type movie Pacific Rim. It was a great giant monsters vs giant robots movie. Don't see it for the plot.

What has me excited most is the "serious" tone they seem to be taking. It's more Cloverfield-ish instead of Power Rangers-ish. This is definitely on my Day 1 list. :)

When I first saw the leaked trailer I broke down in tears, seriously. :sad4:. My childhood can be summed up with very Godzilla film.
has anyone also noticed that the background music is from Stanley Kubrick's 2001: The Space Odyssey?

Yuppers. The original Godzilla movie was one of my favorites as a kid: Gojira (1954) -- (Movie Clip) Godzilla Was Spotted

I thought the 1998 version was pretty disappointing, so I'm glad to see they went a different way with this one: looks more like the original.

They are throwing in references to the 1954 one you may notice. In the trailer it is mentioned they attempted(or possibly) killed Godzilla in 1954 and that possibly the one you see in this 2014 film is the baby Gojira.

if this is true that means this film is a sequel to the 1954 one as most fans disregard the later ones as being authentic sequels. So if all is as expected that means this film is the longest delayed sequel in history adding up to 60 years!

I would like to see this.

Normally these movies seem terrible but this one looks like it might be fun.

How could anybody be a fan and disregard the other sequels?

What have you got against fire-breathing Macy Parade balloons? :D

They are not disregarded but just viewed as "unorthodox material" and not in the same category as the 1st. Lets face it and admit that the 1954 was meant to be a horror film while the other's were monster flicks.

Nothing, they inspired me to become a better man!:D

I doubt it's a sequel.

They'll probably just make the origin story that they tried to nuke it when they discovered it, and even that didn't work. That sets up how ridiculous of a problem this monster is, when he walks into San Francisco.

It is all speculation although the sequel concept would be brilliant. Essentially the most longest thought out sequel in history. Perhaps I think to big :D

I am sure praying that they didn't **** it up again. At least Godzilla looks like Godzilla in this one and not like an iguana.
