Transabled. Is it legit

We Never Know

Heard about "transabled" today. Also known as
"Body Integrity Identity Disorder(BIID).
Haven't had time to research it much. Is it legit?

Transabled: A neurological issue or a mental disorder?

"Most disabled people have a tale to tell of how their disability came to be - whether they were born with it, endured an accident or survived a life-changing injury.

However, what you may not have expected is that there's a growing number of people who are choosing to be disabled.

These non-disabled people are calling themselves "transabled"

Desiring disability: What does it mean to be transabled?

"Imagine longing to live in a different body ... a body less whole. It's a complicated and stigmatized disorder; one that researchers are working to understand.

People who become fixated on these feelings, often from a young age, are called transabled. Some of them want amputations, others want to be paralyzed or lose their sense of sight or hearing.

For insight on the rare condition, known as Body Integrity Identity Disorder"

It is a real thing, but is pretty rare. Whether it's "growing" or just gaining more publicity due to the internet and social media is up to interpretation.

Canada's letting you kill yourself by the State for any reason, so I guess chopping off a few legs and blinding some eyes is legit.

:D

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
I was hoping soneone knew more or had heard other things about it. Maybe later I will have time to look deeper.
It's true. There are people like that.

Long time ago I heard about an account on talk radio where a man had amputated his own leg so he could live on disability. It was the first I heard of this kind of a thing aside from people just trying to scam the system for benefits.
