Transgender etiquette (identity pronoun game)

I agree, the Leggy Butts that I work with are often spaced out and seem like something else is one their mind. I always thought it had something to do with wardrobe choices, but I see that it might be something deeper.
Do you call them "Leggy Butts" to their faces, or are you too cowardly to express your true feelings except on the anonymity of an internet discussion forum?

no, I do it in person. he/she doesn't seem to mind very much, he calls me 'big love' all the time so I know he has a sense of humor.
I'm not afraid to say what I feel to peoples' faces.

Okay, well as long as the ribbing is mutual and nobody minds, I guess I don't either.

It is difficult to figure it out when talking about a celebrity because you cannot ask them.
It's especially difficult when the media can't figure it out either.
After Jenner came out (is that the right terminology?) I remember one news article used the pronouns interchangeably from paragraph to paragraph, sometimes using 'she' and sometimes using 'he'. It was so confusing.

It's an interesting point in history. The PCness of the thing nowadays basically states: <Person> should be allowed to call himself/herself whatever <he/she> wants and use whichever bathroom <he/she> wants, regardless of whether there has been a legal name change, said person has been living under the new sexual identity for a significant period of time or whether gender reassignment surgery has been performed.

20 years from now, the process will probably be a lot clearer, there won't be as much grey area and both transsexuals and those around them probably won't be freaking out so damn much. Of course, there won't be so much shame, stigma or lack of understanding in those two communities either...

I would just use the pronoun the concerned transgender wants. I do that already with the transgender people I know. I don't see why not.
