Transgender Law Makes North Carolina Pioneer in Bigotry

Great job, North Carolina! Hateful idiots!

"Officials in Charlotte, N.C., spent more than a year carefully considering and debating an antidiscrimination ordinance that was passed in February to promote the city’s culture of inclusiveness. State lawmakers quashed it on Wednesday by passing an appalling, unconstitutional bill that bars transgender people from using public restrooms that match their gender identity and prohibits cities from passing antidiscrimination ordinances that protect gay and transgender people.

Gov. Pat McCrory, who signed the bill into law late Wednesday, said it was necessary to undo Charlotte’s ordinance, which included protections for gay and transgender people, because it allowed “men to use women’s bathroom/locker room.” Proponents of so-called bathroom bills, which have been introduced in state legislatures across the country, have peddled them by spuriously portraying transgender women as potential rapists.

That threat exists only in the imagination of bigots. Supporters of the measures have been unable to point to a single case that justifies the need to legislate where people should be allowed to use the toilet. North Carolina is the first state to pass such a provision."

When it comes to rest rooms I believe woman have the right to protection. Malls in our area have been putting in family restrooms which work well and a lockable restroom for all genders would be acceptable. I am against allowing some to say I identify as a _________ you have to trust me. No I don't and I would be stupid if I did.

So you think that this person should be forced to use the men's restroom?

Are you saying that all males are rapists and bigots. I have had more than once have a women come in a male restroom in emergency and nothing happened.

That is not the point, I don't think that transgender people are going to attack women in the bathrooms. But someone who identifies as a woman would likely feel more comfortable in the woman's bathroom.

You said that women need to be protected in the bathroom. Do you think this person is a threat to women? Or do you think this person is deserving of the same kind of protection that all women deserve?

I don't know how or why different cultures developed sex-segregated latrines. I only know that some cultures don't segregate the sexes, and apparently are just fine with that.

So one persons comfort is another persons displeasure. Like I said there are family bathrooms now which have a lockable door. If gyms cater to transgender they should have a similar set up. If the people want a place to associate with women that are getting changed try a nudist colony.

If our culture goes that way I will support it. That however was not what the bill was about.

This is not about people trying to "associate". It is about people going to the bathroom. Transgender people are not going into the bathroom to attack, to ogle, to harass women. They are just going to the bathroom.

Try answering my question. You are avoiding it.

Should this person be forced to use the men's bathroom? Yes or no?

No one should be forced to do anything. I shouldn't be forced to go in the bathroom with other men but that is how society is setup. I would prefer no Gender restrooms, however, our society is not setup that way. Instead of focusing on allowing transgender or whoever trampling the rights of non-transgender force the issue of bathroom neutrality. I will support bathroom neutrality.

This whole issue would be solved if those darn transgendered people would just stay in their places, as God assigned their places, and not get uppity.

We already do trust them.
I've yet to see a lavatory where security guards check the customer's gender status to use it.
Because most trans folk go (note pun) unnoticed, this means enforcement would be haphazard & rare.
The result would be for many to ignore the law.
But an unlucky few would be selectively prosecuted, & badly mangled in the cogs of the 'justice' system.
This is bad law.
