Kellyanne Conway stated on CNN that the White House might be using lie detectors on its own staff in an attempt to stop leaking. Beyond the fact that this is an extremely hypocritical move from an administration that constantly lies to the public, is this this a good idea considering that lie detectors are extremely unreliable and unrevealing of the honesty of any individual and will most likely cause even more unhappiness and disruption in an administration that is already full of it?

Kellyanne Conway is an idiot. The only thing that would do is give a bunch of false readings, cause a bunch of confusion and **** everyone off.

I thought everyone knew by now that "lie detectors" don't work at all. All it does is monitor your heart rate. Anyone can learn to pass them by remaining calm lol. Plus if you get nervous you can make a false positive.

This is a joke.

Yes?

Please tell me this is a joke, the Liar in Chief is talking about lie detectors for his staff. You couldn't script it.

Voted "No".

Its possible they know the end is near, and they can use the leaks as a cover to try to find dirt on everyone. If there is a criminal investigation they have to lie in order to protect themselves from getting their personal secrets released to the Press. Everybody lies about something so finding out stuff that could end your marriage, force social services to take your kids away, find financial irregularities, get you in jail or just cause serious embarrassment won't be too difficult.

They could also use it blackmail Mike Pence and the Cabinet not to try and replace Trump if impeachment proceedings start by using the 25th Amendment. Otherwise, it would give Trump the leverage over everyone to rule by dictat because if they question him- out come their secrets. Congress would have only one shot to impeach Trump as they couldn't do it with any credibility a second time round (especially if its along partisan lines)- so if they kept everyone silent, slipped through it once, they'd keep the White House. The potential for intimidation and abuse is huge and the fact its even being suggested would indicate the toxic levels of paranoia and distrust within the Administration.

However, given the level of incompetence involved, they are just as likely to do the interrogations in a room bugged by the Russians (or arguably worse, by their own intelligence services who might then get a more complete picture of the potential illegality that's going on). Its also possible that Kelly Ann Conway was lying to make it sound more impressive or make everyone nervous. it would fit the mixture of authoritarianism and ignorance of to come directly from the President himself though.

[edit: it would also be a good way to find out if anyone is delusional too.]

This white house believes all the myths we need to start using that to our advantage.
For example
We can get Trump to give NASA more money if we just tell him the Man in the Moon is richer than him or The cheese its made of is incredibly tasty

Yea. ROFLMAO!!!!

I can just picture politicians stumbling aimlessly around the thick smoke and haze as lie detectors explode and fizzle all around them.

How about waterboarding? That will definitely get results. Daily drug tests are another good idea.

I voted yes. What's wrong with a little lie detector test? You just answer personal questions while hooked up to some electrodes and that's it.

We could baby monitor their cell phones and make sure no pesky Kremlins get in. Ever wonder why it sounds like gremlins, no coincidence.
If the lie detectors are ineffective try giving the subjects lots of Vivrin mixed with whiskey and then repeat the lie detector testing. They will have a much harder time hiding their thoughts.

Seems like a very intimidation based administration. I don't think it's a good idea, what's a better idea is stop rushing to put people into roles before properly vetting them.

The vast majority of the trouble that this administration is having can be summed up in one word: Trump.

As long as they start at the top (and including all members of Congress), I'd go along with it.
