Trump administration launches global effort to end criminalization of homosexuality

U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell, the highest-profile openly gay person in the Trump administration, is leading the effort, which kicks off Tuesday evening in Berlin. The U.S. embassy is flying in LGBT activists from across Europe for a strategy dinner to plan to push for decriminalization in places that still outlaw homosexuality — mostly concentrated in the Middle East, Africa and the Caribbean.

“It is concerning that, in the 21st century, some 70 countries continue to have laws that criminalize LGBTI status or conduct,” said a U.S. official involved in organizing the event.

I totally support the global decriminalization of homosexuality. Donald J. Trump is probably is more LBGT friendly than most people realize.... :)

Let's not forget that Obama & the Clintons opposed gay marriage when in office.

Than why did he exclude LBGT individuals from the military.

Trump never excluded gays from the military; he just tried excluding transgender persons, which are a very statistically insignificant amount of people.

So then, he's not T friendly, but he's still LGB friendly.

Because this is apparently about sticking it to Iran more than anything else. They don't care about LGBT people at all. We're only useful as a wedge issue for them. Pence hates LGBT people with a passion.

The Trump administration reportedly wants to push countries to decriminalize homosexuality

Saudi Arabia beheads LGBT people, but they're our best buddies so we don't care about that. Iran does have the death penalty for homosexuality, but it is accepting of transgender people and legally recognizes gender transition. So Iran is actually more progressive.

This broke his campaign promise, and hypocritical.

There's more gays than transgenders who only happen to be such a small fraction of the world's population, so then that'd make Iran persecute more people than Saudi Arabia.

Please don't reply to me. I don't take you seriously at all after the sick crap you revealed about yourself in that other thread. I should just put you on ignore.

Right it's only unconstitutional.
Nope. It is your opinion that excluding transgender from serving in the military is unconstitutional. But it is no more unconstitutional than disallowing paraplegics, asthmatics or short people.

I know I was wrong what I did. I do regret having sexually harassed somebody, but that was a very long time ago.

Well, ah . . . in a way it is. It is criminalization as far as membership in the military. Not a trick question at all.
Nope. A transgender person serving in the military isn’t committing a crime because they are transgender. They are committing a crime by attempting to serve under fraudulent pretense. That’s different.

A disability is different than a sexual orientation. Surely you're not that dense. Even being extremely short is considered a disability.
