Out this morning, Tuesday, January 24, 2017, the Rasmussen Reports Presidential Tracking Poll shows that 57% of voters approve of President Trump’s job performance, 43% disapprove, of the now 57% who approve 42% Strongly Approve of the performance of Trump as President.

And he has only been in office for a few days. If this continues, Trump is on track for being the most popular US President since such polling was first conducted.

Rasmussen Reports is now fake news? Seriously? If so, then I suppose we have to include every other polling group under this tacky new banner heading.

Hooray! We can trust polls again now :grinning:

(Poll is statistically unchanged btw due to swing being within the roughly 5% margin of error that it has. Daily tracking polls are mostly noise unless something significant has happened leading to a large jump. Until Trump moves up/down by more than 5% it's just meaningless noise.)

I think I know how this topic was created :

Step number #1 - Choose your preferred facts even if they aren't really facts at all.
Step number #2 - Find a source that can be used to substantiate those "facts".
Step number #3 - Search around some more because your typical biased source doesn't agree with you this time around.
Step number #4 - Now that you have found someone somewhere that agrees you, create the topic and pretend either that you have the most authoritative source or that your "facts" are undisputed.

Have we not learned that polls are meaningless? Polls had Hillary pegged for a victory in every state that Trump turned and won. Ignore stupid polls and just see what happens.

You beat me to it. I was under the impression that Rasmussen was pretty reliable.

Exactly. We all know that their are enough polls out there that anyone can pick the ones that reflect their viewpoint.....But I thought Rasmussen was more neutral than most.

Yep. I'm much more interested in what the President actually does than on crowd sizes and poll numbers. If he doesn't do good, I will gripe, but until then? Wait and see....Not to mention how unreliable every poll I seen, was concerning who would win the Presidency.

If you click on the link above to Real Clear Politics listing of all the polls, you'll see that Rasmussen is the most biased, way out of line with ALL the other polls.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Dosent Trump need to DO something first to get an approval rating? or is this something like a beauty pageant to rate who's the prettiest?

The polls don't matter.
I don't approve of him...yet.
I'll need some time to judge.

Which is exactly why I would consider any poll at this time an invalid poll; there has not been enough time yet to let people from a proper opinion of the president. Most presidents enjoy what is called a honeymoon period, where people tend to give that president the benefit of the doubt. We won't know where people really stand until the honeymoon period ends.

It is not that polls are meaningless, it is just that people too often treat them as facts, but they are not facts, they are approximations. Approximations that have a level of uncertainty involved in them.

They are meaningless. The media outlets that normally do them usually have an agenda to support. They can pick and choose what demographic to use, what geographic location they want to focus on, and can front load the questions. A sampling of 2,000 people that actually bother to respond is not indicative of 120,000,000.
