Trump is the Perfect President for the US.

Few actually paid those high rates. They were offset by generous tax avoidance provisions, eg, frequent buying & selling of real estate to shelter income with low capital gains taxes on recaptured accelerated depreciation.
The 50s & 60s were great for many reasons. We had.....
- A technological & manufacturing advantage over the rest of the world.
- An economy not wrecked by WW2
- Economic & other regulation was less.
But that began changing in the 60s.
I saw it particularly in the auto industry, which suffered from Japanese competition.

You won't find me losing sleep over how much their poor sad lawyers have to read through, in order to make the company CEO bathe in ludicrous piles of money.

Reagan actually gutted the the accelerated depreciation strategy.
His strategy of lowering marginal tax rates while removing avoidance schemes was a great idea.
It still is, but we won't see it from the typical candidates in the Big Two.
Trump is an exception here.....one of his good traits.
Sure it was a great idea..... but even Reagan and Bush Jr., who tried to emulate him with more text cuts for the rich, both agreed out loud and in speeches that these were meant to be only short-term items.
And we've seen how the plutocrats have maneuvered those things into never ending riches, and those tax cuts have not disappeared as they were meant to under Reagan's plans. Now the rich simply don't pay anything near relativistic taxes, and the coffers of the nation are empty. Our infrastructure; our schools; our roads; our hospitals; our research, are all long since fallen behind the civilized world, and the reason is we have no public funds, instead those funds are in offshore tax avoiding accounts of the super rich. And with Citizens United and general human corruption, those coffers are used to pay politicians and make them continue the never-ending text cuts. And regardless of how many useless pages of federal documents there is still no enforcement of anti-avoidance policies.

Hillary, who was duped into voting for Bush's and Cheney's war, is still bought and sold like any politician.....but Trump would willingly go along with the plutocrats demands, and might even one-up them into giving away our nation to the rich. I prefer to live in a Democracy, not an Plutocratic aristocracy. (as I recall, our founding fathers fought a little war on that account).

It isn't about that at all.

And that's the problem with most changes to tax structure....they don't think about long term sustainable good design.
They usually implement some ill considered short term gimmick.
(There's always a flock of Economics PhDs who will cluck approval.)

This last rant is too far ranging to address in what's left of this morning.
I'm too lazy, & I haven't had any bacon yet.

So are you saying Hillary may be too gullible or, dare I say it, too stupid to be president?

Yes. My primary motivators in this election are rights and economy, which is why I'm voting for Bernie.

But I recognize that the likely outcome will be Hillary versus Trump. Given that choice of evils, then Hillary is by far the more rational and sane choice.

In addition to stupidity and gullibility, there is a third option. Political gamer.

Being that it looks like Trump IS going to be President, I guess the truth of the matter will be revealed and all of you in this thread will be proven right or wrong.

My number one issue is the economy and jobs. That is why I am voting Trump, and probably why most Americans are. I predict after one year, the economy will boom under Trump and lots of real jobs, not burger flipper jobs for illegal aliens.

Chris Christie just endorsed Trump, and while I have called him a fatso, I find the endorsement exciting and will give Trump more of an advantage than he already has as Christie would make a great tuff-guy position somewhere in the Trump thing, perhaps as a Attorney General.

So all we have to do is wait and see who was right or wrong. But I suppose the dead-enders will say it ain't so no matter how great things are under Trump.

So you would vote for a person who by default would restrict the rights of others while completely destroying the economy?

He plans to:
1. Build a 2000 mile long wall on the US/Mexico border and make Mexico pay for it.
2. A mass deportation of 2 million immigrants.
3. End birth right citizenship.
4. Set up surveillance on mosques.
5. Is open to the idea of entering Muslims into a database.
6. Ban Muslims from entering the country.
7. Repeal ObamaCare and replace it with something "terrific".
8. Require other countries to pay the US if they need any kind of military help.
9. "Close up the internet"
10. Bomb ISIS and send EXXON in to rebuild.

Not to hurt anyone’s feelings. I am hesitant to even say it.

But I will.

There was a young man who once lived in a time when he, along with those who were also doing the same, were unafraid. They were not weak. And then, this young man grew old. He ran for President, still living in those days, a long time ago.

Followers came. But he assumed, they were like him when he was young. Brave. Not weak. Because, many of these followers are young, just like he once was. So he assumed things.

But when his followers were cheated, they did nothing.

They are not like him when he was young. They are weak.

They are weak.

They are not like the supporters of another man. I guess some call them fanatics. But is that the word, if you are willing to do something about being cheated?

The supporters of Sanders and the supporters of Trump, in my view, are not the same. The supporters of Trump are not weak.

Here is what is going to happen if the Republican establishment even tries to pull some shenanigans.

The fortress and prison known as the Bastille in Paris, France, contained just seven inmates at the time of its storming on the afternoon of 14 July 1789, but was a symbol of the establishment.

The Trump supporters, intoxicated enthusiastic freebooters, today physically stormed a trouble-making counter-protester to Trump who tried to hold up an anti-Trump sign.

On the morning of 14 July 1789, in city of Paris. The Militia of Paris which was to become the Revolutionary National Guard had garrison of the Hotel des Invalides, a military museum and home for war veterans.

The majority of veterans support Trump. In no small way.

In 1792, Jacques Nicolas Pelletier a criminal highway man was the first to be executed by the new, humane, execution machine known as the guillotine.

In 1793, Louis XVI and Marie Antonniete loose their heads on the humane new execution machine. Enraged militias stormed all across France after storming the Bastille-

If the Republican establishment even dares to steal the election from a Trump victory using any corrupt and underhanded way, here is what is going to happen. The Trump supporters and their militias will tear apart the convention, ripping out the seats, and began to guillotine people who deserve it. The humane end of them.

So throwing a violent hissy fit is "not weak?"

Along with denying that he knew David Duke whereas a comment by Trump some years ago condemning Duke was aired today on the news. And he also denied knowing much of anything about the KKK and other white supremacy groups, which I would suggest that either he's lying or he has almost no knowledge of the history of the black civil right movement.

Ya know, what's even scarier than Trump are those that actually support him, and there are some Republicans who feel that his nomination could lead to a catastrophic split in the Republican Party.

Yeah...and I'm sure riot control law enforcement and the National Guard are shaking in their boots at a bunch of Trump supporters.
