Trump Plan for Ideological Screening of Immigrants

He was talking about folks interested in migrating to America. Initial questionnaire!

And anyone bent on damaging America (like the 9/11 terrorists) are going to tell them exactly what they want to hear to get in. This kind of thing only excludes honest people that tell the truth.

That includes more than Christians, amd would be unConstitutional preferential treatment towards religion and respecting the establishment of religion. We have a lot of Muslims, Hindus, Taoists, Buddhists amd atheist immigrants filling necessary positions.

Assuming that recording is genuine, I agree that it would be unconstitutional.

The point though is why did he say it when he must know perfectly well that he'll never be able to do it? Hey, you're a Trump supporter, are you not? Don't you tired of this stuff from him? If not, why not?
Maybe none of the above
He doesn’t talk like a lawyer, with every
word calculated to every nuance.
So as with bible- readers, you can find
a way to read in what you seek.

Try this. “ if your religion, or anything else makes you
an enemy, we won’t let you in”.

Doesn’t thst make more ordinary sense than your scenarios?

And proud of it, toots!
I omitted the quotation marks as I was referring to
you.

But since you missed the subtleties and added
more of the erranticity I cautioned you to
avoid, I will again extend a hand.

Pride is for sissies, those lesser lights
whose self assessment is cradled in the
adulation of others.

There’s no more pride in helping the
Americans with their own language
than in helping a frog across the street.

I'm a proud sissy too.

Big words from a small woman.
Did you have to stand on a stool to reach them?

I'll take my pride where I can find it.
As a sub-standard human, I need all I can get.

Sissy in need of help.
Good self appraisal.
But the errata bit needs work.

But there really isn't much subtlety in most of what he says. I've always said that I don't need news pundits, MAGA apologists or even left wing opponents to make a judgement. Just his own words out of his own mouth.

You're right about religion, and I've been thinking the same thing. This "interpretation" of what he says by his supporters has a familiar ring. It makes me think of a discussion where a skeptic quotes the Bible about (say) slavery. That's bad, says the skeptic, and the Bible is very plain on the subject. Well no, replies the apologist, it doesn't really mean slavery as we understand it, more like indentured servitude. And on it goes. It's what I call GCL (God Can't Lose). No matter what, the Bible is always interpreted to put God in a good light. I see the same pattern with Trump supporters. Trump can't lose in their eyes, and anything he says that seems bad must have some hidden meaning that is good.

This was only about people who are interested in migrating to America.
If you "honestly" hate America then your "honesty" should stop you from wanting to come here.
Doncha think?

immigrants filling necessary positions.
"filling necessary positions" - that happens after they are legally here.
This is before they come!
This is to see if they hate America before coming here and would burn American flags every time they feel America is on the wrong end!
Some of that happened not too long ago. They wear masks of course when they burn the flag but if caught they can start denaturization process against them.
