Trump appeals to RW authoritarians. That's a very different ball park. There can be some overlap, but having knowledge in one wont carry you very far in understanding the other. Such as, those with a history of being in abusive relationships, or even have authoritarian parents, widely turn into either people pleasers who don't know how to say no or into anti-authoritarians who argue with and reject authority percieced to be in thr wrong, abusive or illegitimate. Neither would make for a good MAGA.

demonization of liberals, & that drives their
preferring him to Biden.

The age isn't the big problem for me.

Yeah, there are some I am at a loss as to why they support him, like anyone who's queer. His core group of supporters I don't doubt would throw us against the wall if given a chance, most the rest stripping us of all rights (and a possible return of mandatory "you must be this dressed as your birth sex" laws) but he gets their support anyways.

Luckily, whether you can stand a person or not is irrelevant when voting.
There are more important reasons to vote than just satisfying your feelings.
Ignore the person. It's not a popularity contest. Speaking skills are a bonus, not the precedent.

decision to not testify.

I think that it is because the prosecutor can read off a list of his recent court losses and what he has been shown to be guilty of if he wants to testify. I need to find the video with the legal term of what will occur. Basically a lot of the accusations against Trump cannot be brought up about him if he does not testify, but if he does testify a lot of the knowledge that the jury is ignorant of and cannot use in argumentation will be made public by that act. Still looking.

Politicians & parties take stands more often
for political advantage rather than principle.
It's why Republicans have been supporting

Well that too. But they especially won't want him testifying with the additional information the jury would receive. Even if that were not the case I would advise Trump to keep his mouth shut too.
