No, it was the opposite. The protests--legit peaceful protests--were dismissed as widely and mostly violent riots.
I even posted a link showing how this is a trend of misrepresenting protests.
Come now. "It" was the opposite?
What is "it"?

What I saw in the news re Hong Kong unrest was a great many marchers, among whom
were some who threw petrol bombs, rocks, smashed windows, assaulted police.

Its what I saw in US news. Along with reports of a lot of injoties, attacks on police, and what, two billion in property damage for the supposed purpose for forcing the nation to some new different way of doing things.

Nobody disputes that the majority of the overall picture was about nonviolent people.

Are you denying official sanctioning or tolerance on the part of leftist local governments?

And it's not just "older" people who are at risk. I work with two women who are in their thirties and forties that have compromised immune systems that absolutely cannot catch COVID.
I know we all like to dismiss the older people as casualties or whatever (well, I don't, but I see others doing it), but it's not just old people who are at risk of becoming very ill and/or dying.

Just the other day, I noticed a story about a couple of young kids who are orphans because both parents died from the disease.

I do think there were questionable instances where voter fraud occurred but without adequate proof, its hard to confirm with certainty.

Congress seems to think so too

CONGRESS made an official statement THERE IS NO PRESIDENT ELECT AS OF NOW!

Which means JOE BIDEN, is falsely claiming to be president elect.

The MEDIA, is falsely confirming a president elect.

Congress has made it official:

“Contrary to complaints issued by House Oversight Democrats, the General Services Administration has followed the letter of the law. State governments certify election results; not the media, and not political parties. When the election is certified, we fully anticipate the GSA to take appropriate action as necessary. Until then, our priority must be on ensuring that this race was a fair and free election with an honest count,” said Government Operations Subcommittee Ranking Member Hice.

In the letter, Hice outlines the three situations where there is not an apparent President-Elect. All three situations apply to the 2020 election. The GSA Administrator should determine the President-Elect based on the Constitution and past precedent, which both indicate there is not an apparent President-Elect. Government-funded transition assistance can only be provided after GSA has made a determination.

There are enough state contests in question, such that there is not yet an apparent President or Vice-President-Elect. Precedent and legislative history present three situations where there may be an un-apparent President-Elect:

  1. The drafters of the Act anticipated three electoral situations where there would be an un-apparent President-Elect: (1) a tie, (2) a plurality winner, or (3) the presence of extensive voter fraud or intimidation. The third being applicable to 2020 since the Trump campaign has raised questions and filed legal challenges in several states;
  2. The drafters concluded that “if there is any doubt in the Administrator’s mind” the Administrator does not have to release transition assistance. Since states have not yet certified an electoral winner and some states are still tabulating legal ballots, there remains doubt as to the winner; and
  3. The precedent set by the Clinton Administration in the contested 2000 election is that to ascertain an apparent President-Elect there would need to be a concession—which has not yet occurred in 2020—or no more legitimate continuing legal challenges—which has not yet occurred in 2020.
According to Congressional intent and past precedent set by President Clinton, as of today, there is no apparent President-Elect.

I missed the mention of this on CNN.

All of the faces that I can see have a facemask in both of those sources. Do you see that with Trump rallies? Yes, they should be maintaining social distancing, but there is a huge difference between an event with not social distancing and facemasks and one without. Facemasks have been shown to protect both the wearer from others and others from infected wearers.

Those are chimps. The Neanderthal's left evidence indicating they took care of their infirm.
All social animals take care of each other, in one way or another. The problem is moral consideration of outgroups.
We great apes are famous for in-group altruism and out-group aggression.

The problem we have to work on is this xenophobia and lack of moral consideration for "the other."

I still remember one report with a journalist basically being "Well, here is the scene of all the riots and destruction but clearly there is just none to be found here in this spot identified by RW news sources." But, apparently, it's only "RW PC" to call all these protests riots.
Protests draw opportunistic hooligans, black bloc rioters and other assorted troublemakers. They're interesting, they're chaotic, they're fun, and the police are distracted. They're festivals for all sorts of troublemakers who have no interest in whatever political situation started it all.

I don't really care for the debating of vocabulary, such as in the current is of -phobia, implying as it does that all who have a non pc pov view on something are mentally ill.

In the event, we all but psychopaths are compassionate.

I don't think it is at all so that conservatives have a pathological fear of ""others "! It is unrealistic and unkind to sugtest they are.

The difference, lib / con is how wide to draw the circle.

The open border come one come all faction
can feel very righteous, and really, it would be so nice!

Another group looks at it and says, it would be nice but we can't do it anymore than we can have everyone from the homeless shelter move into our flat!

That is not a phobia or lack of compassion.
You just physically cannot do it.

I doubt any of the advocates of open borders
do more than virtue signal, ie, their homes are off limits.
