Trump recommits to September 10th debate with Harris. The game is on.

So far I think Harris has played this just right. Force Trump to debate under the terms he agreed to. 1 month exactly. Harris has the momentum, she has the DNC coming up. Trump has no major events except his sentencing.

Everyone remember the last debate...

The left said and was sure Biden would whoop Trump's butt. Biden failed miserably.

The right said and was sure Trump would whoop Biden's butt. Trump constantly dodged and lied.

The whole debate was a fiasco.

Now with this debate..

The left is saying and is sure Harris will whoop Trump's butt.

The right is saying and is sure Trump will whoop Harris's butt.

There is a lot of hoping, wishing and probably praying going on again but no one will know until the debate is done.

I just finished forcing myself to listen to his Montana address. That will be my last, I imagine. The man is horrible. I had to cut it off last night when he pulled another of his infamous copycat acts. He stopped talking and stared down to his right saying "do we have a doctor?" I didn't even wait to see how long he pulled his shtick. Anyway, I pulled it up again today, made sure I started the rewind after that stunt, and finished the listen.

I don't know what politics/platform he proposes because he spends all his time and energy in playground slander. "You can't use the word fat. You can say obese.....Chris Christie’s not a fat pig." What little bit of "policy" he alludes to is based on regurgitating mocks in the vein of "I know you are, but what am I?"

The only thing he said that I agree with is that Harris is using the same speech over and over, word for word, and it's tiring. Her team needs to recognize she's being watched for innovation as well as fair, uplifting optimism in our future. Mix it up a little girlfriend.

What's that about? I don't listen to him.

The other day, on an outdoor venue, Walz stopped his speech due to a rally guest who was suffering in the heat. Walz called for someone to get water. It was on camera that an attendant ran past the stage to give aid. Walz held up his speech until everything was good again, only speaking to the audience briefly about looking out for each other because it was hot. To be sure everyone drank water, etc. When the situation off camera to his left was remedied, he gave applause for the help given and returned to his speech. It was a very "honest" and compassionate moment.

Probably an attempt to mock his opponents as Walz stopped his speech and pointed to an audience member who was in trouble.
Not very bright on Trump's part, but I guess let em die is the Trump way.

Pretty much describes the differences in policy between the campaigns.

There is trouble in paradise. Harris and her staff want a small change in the debates. They want no mute button on the microphones. In other words if Trump interrupts the debate by speaking out of turn it will be picked up and broadcast. That worked to Trump's advantage in the past, but Harris is probably well aware of Trump's lies and will be able to refute them instantly. Trump's handlers on the other hand know how bad this could make Trump look and are against it. But Trump, never the brightest bulb in the box, seems to think that it is a good idea:

“I’d rather have it probably on,” Trump said Monday during a stop in the Washington area, when asked if he wanted microphones muted. “I didn’t like it the last time, but it worked out fine,” he added, in terms of the policy during his debate with Biden.

And all of Trump's handlers shout "NOoooooooo!!!!"

I LOVE how Harris has turned this into a nightmare for his handlers and campaign managers. I LOVE how a smart woman is getting this stupid rapist to fall into her traps and eating from her hand. Get him to ramp up his personal attacks when he needs to focus on the issues, amd now baiting him to agree to look like a bafoon in front of America and letting herself shine even more.
I can't wait to see what they make Trump do next that gives his handlers anxiety.

Honestly I don't like these kind of political games, and that is what this is. They agreed to the terms of the debate, they agreed twice now, and I think both parties should stand by that agreement. And I honestly think having the mics muted between answers makes for a better more debate.

That said, as much as I don't like political games, Harris definitely won this round. They got the Trump campaign fighting to gag their own candidate. And however this plays out the Harris campaign wins. Not muting the mics between answers will help them, and having Trump being seen wanting the mics muted also helps the Harris campaign.

Except this time there is a participant who doesn't ramble on and isn't always going on how he doesn't remember saying things.

I think one thing we can all agree on is whoever wins this is odds-on favorite to be POTUS at least if there's no successful attempt to steal the election.

Okay, Trump has agreed to the debate again, but with the original rules of muted mics. It was a very good move on the part of the Harris campaign to suggest unmuted mics. Some of the Republicans tried to claim that was because Harris wanted to shout over Trump, but no one bought it and they were laughed at. Trump's handlers did not tell them of this ahead of time and Trump fell for it at first, but they got him back in line:

Where originally that rule looked like it might be there to protect Biden from the insanity of Trump now it is clearly there to protect Trump from his own insanity. That is a win that I can live with.
