I repeat it: in EU too.
Either you are a patriot or a traitor to the European Civilization. ;)

In that case, sign me up for "traitor", whatever you mean by that word.

I will proudly refuse to condone "patriotism" under the best of circunstances. And having MAGA spur me is not the best of circunstances.
I give you an example of traitor.
For example a ruler in a country who swore loyalty to his own nation decides to sell (secretly) state assets to some powerful bankers in order to get a very big bribe. This sale will enormously damage the country and the nation's interests.

I don't have that much qualification, but I will nonetheless take firm issue with attempts at calling me a "patriot" according to Trump's expectations.

Or really, any others. Even sane and well-meaning ones.

So traitor it is.

You are familiar with Trump's document retention indictment?

We know which side MAGA thinks they fall on. I guess that makes the rest of us traitors according to Trump and his Band of Deplorables.

The usual Popularist Trope, "we wave national flags, so we are patriots".
Yet, I've never had my country's flag, never waved it but I love my country (although embarrassed at times by the politicians). I want my country to be better, and everyone in my country benefiting ... but not to the detriment to other country's well being.

Anyone who subverts the Constitution, attempts to overturn an election, claims to be above the law and aspires to be dictator for even one single day is treasonous.

Anyone who opposes that is a patriot.Good thing I am on this side.

I would be a "traitor" towards any dictator, any monarch, any autocracy and/or theocracy. And I would be glad and proud.

It's funny actually. The people Grant fought against and defeated thought they were above the law and could just up and subvert the US Constitution. And the Confederates were total scumbags.

Lots of patriots in Germany during the '30's and '40's.
That's why we don't really do patriotism any more.

I don't get it, honestly - why be proud of something that is decreed by chance or fate?
A nation is but one level in a complex Russian doll of nested identities: Individuum, family, city, state, nation, continent as well as education, religion, ethnicity, profession, money, hobby...

Nations are better suited to divide humanity and facilitate conflict, than promote peace and collaboration. They're kind of useful as an ideological tool to rally people against crazy emperors and colonialism, but still, I'd rather get rid of them, if it where up to me.

No Slack
Hillary didn't keep them, she deleted them when her right to them ended,
Trump refused to admit keeping documents he was not entitled to just as a beginning of his offenses against the security of the countries secrets.

Do you mean these emails? Why deny the facts?

"They had nothing to do with work," Clinton added. "I didn't see any reason to keep them ... no one wants their personal emails made public, and I think most people understand that and respect that privacy."

Clinton said her team "went through a thorough process" to identify work-related emails, and she said he had "absolute confidence that everything that could be in any way connected to work is now in the possession of the State Department."

However, after a year-long investigation, the FBI recovered more than 17,000 emails that had been deleted or otherwise not turned over to the State Department, and many of them were work-related, the FBI has said.

"Federal agencies did, however, retrospectively determine that 100 emails contained information that should have been deemed classified at the time they were sent, including 65 emails deemed "Secret" and 22 deemed "Top Secret". An additional 2,093 emails were retroactively designated confidential by the State Department."
