Trump warns of immigrants voting in U.S. elections

From Newsweek:

Former President Donald Trump intensified his rhetoric on immigration on Saturday, warning that removing migrants from the United States would be a "bloody story" if he's reelected in November.
Trump's remarks were made during a campaign rally in Mosinee, Wisconsin, and align with the Republican National Committee's newly released 2024 platform, which calls for aggressive immigration enforcement and mass deportations.
"And ya know getting them out will be a bloody story," Trump told supporters on Saturday, referencing plans for large-scale removal of undocumented immigrants. "[They] should have never been allowed to come into our country. Nobody checked them."

From The Christian Science Monitor:

There are very few proven instances of noncitizens registering to vote, and even fewer of them actually voting. Instances of unauthorized immigrants voting are “so rare as to be statistically nonexistent,” says Aaron Reichlin-Melnik, senior fellow at the American Immigration Council.
A 2016 study by the Brennan Center for Justice, which involved interviewing local election officials in 42 jurisdictions – including eight of the 10 with the largest noncitizen populations – found that only an estimated 30 incidents of suspected noncitizen voting among 23.5 million votes cast were referred for further investigation or prosecution. However, the interviews relied on officials’ estimates rather than on hard records, and did not ask how officials evaluated eligibility or determined whether to refer cases to prosecution.

Later, the article notes:

But efforts by a handful of GOP secretaries of state have not turned up evidence of widespread noncitizen voting. They have flagged thousands of potential noncitizens who tried – and in some cases, succeeded – to register as voters, though only a fraction actually voted. The states, in announcing their findings below, did not disclose how they verified lack of citizenship. One option is cross-checking registered voters with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services’ Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) database, which verifies immigration status.
  • Alabama: The state since 2023 has identified 3,251 noncitizens registered to vote, though it said it’s possible that some are now naturalized and eligible to vote.
  • Georgia: A 2022 review in the state, which has a process for checking citizenship, found that election officials had flagged and prevented about 1,600 registration applications by potential noncitizens over the past 25 years.
  • Ohio: This year, Ohio identified 138 noncitizens “who appear to have cast a ballot” by cross-referencing state and federal databases, including jury pool data.
  • Virginia: Gov. Glenn Youngkin removed 6,303 noncitizens from the state’s voter rolls over the past two years, based on data collected by the Department of Motor Vehicles and shared with the state Department of Elections.
In each of these states, votes cast by noncitizens account for a significantly smaller share of overall fraud than other categories, such as deceased voters, voters who have moved out of state, or voters who still have a driver’s license from another state. In Texas, for example, of more than 1 million people removed from voter rolls since 2021, only 6,500 were potential noncitizens, and of those only 1,900 had voted.

For the mathematically inclined, 1,900/1,000,000 = 0.19%

No, immigrants are not invading the U.S. and polluting the blood of our country, but MAGA is doing all in its power to pollute its soul -- and the drumbeat of Trump's ugly xenophobic rhetoric is getting louder as Trump gets more frenzied and unhinged.

I'm not against naturalized citizens voting , but illegals are a different story and even though it may not be on the federal level , it certainly is a factor for a number of local areas. That is where the real cancer starts and will spread further if not addressed.

Trump may not be accurate entirely but he is certainly zeroed in on the potential repercussions and consequences of non citizen voting.

It would seem that frightening people out of their wits about the evil immigrants from hell is about all he's got left. I know people think he's strong on the economy, but he just keeps repeating lower taxes for the rich and apply tarrifs across the board. These are not terribly strong economic policies, according to the experts.

So, you characterize local resident immigrant voting on local issues a "real cancer." Have you ever stopped to consider how thoughtless and sick that is?

Parenthetically, Non-citizen suffrage in the United States in an interesting read.

No I characterize illegal immigrant voting, or if you prefer, undocumented voting and true , I don't think resident "undocumented " immigrant should have any right to vote whatsoever even if they live here until they upgrade to citizen status and only then it will be all fine.

I do. Thank you for accommodating that preference.

I realize this. I simply and strongly disagree.

I believe that what we're debating is addressed in a balanced manner in Verify's

The article note, in part:

While the city doesn’t allow them to vote in elections for citywide offices, Chicago allows undocumented immigrants to vote in what it calls local school councils, which serve as the governing bodies for individual schools. Students can also vote in these elections, of which there are 477 in the city.

For the life of me, I cannot think of a reason to deny voting in local elections other than a mean-spirited and silly commitment against neighborliness. But whatever difference you and I might have on this issue, due you truly think such voting warrants the hate and fear mongering that is reaching a crescendo in MAGA propaganda?

No he is just fearmongering over a nonexistent problem, There is no evidence of anything other than token examples of non-citizens voting illegally and we know you cannot provide any evidence because it isn't there.

It is there on the local level. Cancer spreads you know.

Yes, it is a terrible thing to let people whose children go to a school vote in the school board elections.
Better change it to only male property owners who inherited property, keep the blood pure.
Illegals should have no voting rights whatsoever.

Mean-spirited xenophobes should keep their mouth shut, crawl back into their hole, and let humanity progress. But, sadly, we don't live in a perfect society. It's a conundrum.

Now for some relevant quotes ...

"We're going to have the largest deportation in the history of our country," Trump said as he took reporter questions in Los Angeles, California. "And we're going to start with Springfield and Aurora, [Colorado]." [source]
"No no, no. The real threat is what's happening at our border," Trump said. "Because you have thousands of people being killed by illegal migrants coming in -- and also dying." (There is no evidence of thousands of people being killed by migrants crossing the border illegally.) [ibid]
"I can say this. We will do large deportations from Springfield, Ohio, large deportations," he said. "We're going to get these people out. We're bringing them back to Venezuela." [ibid]
And ...

Illegals should have no voting rights whatsoever.
Who says they are illegal, there are many foreigners in this country who are not citizens who are here legally. That includes people here in the process of claiming asylum who have left their countries due to threats of violence etc.
The Haitians in Springfield fall into this class in many ways as under Temporary Protected Status due to violence in Haiti which was just extended for another two years. In fact, Trump's plan to deport them is illegal not the Haitians.

Illegals do not have voting rights but legal residents which includes anyone including refugees legally residing in a jurisdiction may be granted voting rights by that jurisdiction or not according to the jurisdictions rules.

Nope. When you see illegals voting its a warning sign, and your a part of that if you support illegals in any way.
As has been pointed out, there is no evidence of illegals voting in any numbers nor is there some new way for them to make this happen except in your head. In other words, your hypothetical warning sign is waiting for any evidence for it to be considered.

We don’t see “illegals” voting. You are being duped by a dumb conman.

How embarrassing to be duped, and by a dumb conmen who has been exposed.
I think it's even more embarrassing to be triggered by somebody claimed to be a dumb con man.

And yes Democrats are allowing illegals to vote in local elections. You need to seriously get an education on this.
