When the United States stop victimizing Julian Assange, they will have the moral authority to criticize Russia.

Not before.
Set Assange free, and they will have the moral authority to talk.

Assange is still in the U.K. isn’t he? So the US can’t set him free yet, they need to get hold of him first.

That is an ugly and stupidly irresponsible deflection. If every state power lacking "moral authority" stayed silent in the face of rising fascism, you'd be living under the Third Reich and I, a Jew, wouldn't be living at all. Opposition to the likes of Putin and Trump is not a right achieved by virtue of moral authority but a responsibility mandated by ethical dictate.

I condemn Russia...and I have heard of bad things happening there.

Nevertheless this doesn't automatically means that in the West, they are all saints. Assange is imprisoned for no reason: he did nothing wrong.
He may die in prison out of desperation.

Many paranoid politicians and leaders in the USA, also harass and target their opponents, such as Biden and his minions in the DNC run states, with all their legal challenges and election interference in the 2024 Primaries. Biden would like to eliminate Trump, and be done with his challenge. However, there are too loyalists, cameras and conspiracy theorists, who would keep pecking for the truth. It is safer to do it in unhanded semi-legal way, in the USA, so you can escape justice.

In 2020, the DNC did use some of Putins soft core tricks, like using censorship of the state run media; fake news and FBI plants in social media such as Facebook and Twitter. The Democrats always had a secret love affair for Dictatorships and Banana Republics. They were upset when Trump put tariffs on China, even though China was already doing that to the USA; dictatorship love.

Putin on the other hand, has a reputation as an assassination from his early career KGB years. This type of behavior for Putin is not big news in Russia, where he could be tried. However, everyone is afraid to be next; KGB style witness tampering. It is much safer to remain a wall flower.

Speaking of witness tampering, the DNC will trial Trump, for the word of a prostitute and porn star, but when Biden is accused by a loyal and wholesome Democrat; Tara Reide, of sexual harassment she becomes the target of the FBI in Operation Cassandra. This is classic Putin but he uses the KGB.

Biden accuser Tara Reade promises to "expose the truth" about FBI

Although, in the USA, Jeffrey Epstein, with cameras off and everyone gone, Epstein hangs himself, does smell like a DNC hit and coverup. Too many coincidences leading to no witnesses on duty and not surveillance for a high profile inmate. This case involved a long line of rich Democrat donors, who would no longer be DNC cash cows, if this proceeded with all the civil law suits, that had the girls testifying, for some compensation. Biden's Injustice Department is still not releasing the full list of names and civil accusations. Epstein was less liked, due to the negative fake news coverage; when else does the DNC hush perversion and not try to push it as the new norml? This will not be investigated, any time soon, as it might be, with a more likable figure, fake news and all.

Assange got the same "bad guy" Liberal fake news treatment to decrease the likelihood of any people going forward, less they be labeled an accomplice and then harassed; let sleeping dogs lie silent in prison.

But who said that in the West they are all saints? No one.

Nor does it mean that red wine should not be paired with grilled salmon*.

Nevertheless, I'd be curious to hear from you who at RF have argued that the West is a cohort of saints.

The difference is that I condemn Russia...about Navalny's treatment.
You use your whataboutism to defend the invasion of Ukraine.
And you would deny USA the right to criticize Russia.
**** that.
Do you defend this?

The West has prevented Russia from conquering Kiev: the West has won.
They can keep those four regions.

Well, technically he divulged state secrets. Every government on Earth will punish that.
