:biglaugh:We did see turkey's losing their heads albeit discreetly in a machine.:faint:I watched the video thinking I would see a turkey lose its head..........
Instead I saw a turkey that never had one.
Give me a break. Who cares? Some people have an insatiable thirst to find fault with Gov. Palin.
No one really does care. It's just a humorous train wreck, that's all.
But as far as politicians go - she's at least been a breath of fresh air.
OH MY GOSH -ARE YOU KIDDING ME? TURKEYS GET KILLED AROUND THIS TIME OF YEAR????? AUGHHHHHHH! I HAD NO IDEA!!!
And are you telling me that people actually go hunting and kill animals with guns? What is this world coming to?????? SAY IT AIN'T SOOOOOO!!!!!
I hope that everyone who finds those practices shocking at LEAST buys cage free eggs and doesn't wear leather.
Well I would have to agree with Dallas on this. While slaughter is how we receive our food, calling it fun is just crazy. I lived on a farm when I was growing up and had to participate in the slaughter of animals for food. I hated it and it definitely wasn't fun. I was however necessary if we wanted to eat them. I think the lack of empathy for the animals that were being slaughtered for our well being and calling it fun was what I found to be callous. I am not naive, I know how our food gets to the table. I have been in the position of the one doing the killing. It is not something to be taken lightly. I usually had tears rolling down my face. Feeling the life drain out of a living creature is a humbling experience. The "oh it's been such fun being here" attitude was in my opinion not something most people would appreciate. From the responses I have been hearing I would say I'm right about that.Thats not the point Kathryn...
Its just ignorant..to have the annual ceremony of giving a turkey a "pardon" at Thanksving time..to only then show turkeys in the background with their dead feet sticking out of a machine apparently havign the blood drained out of their bodies..while a hundred more wait in a cramped cage waiting to meet the same fate...
It sort of killed the 'warm and fuzzy" feeling of letting one of the hook...(which I dont beleive they really do anyway to be real honest..I think they just say that..)
Anyway MOST people dont want to have to see something like that unless they don't have a choice..
And Im with Texan..it kind of makes you want to be a vegetarian..Or at the very least..cut back on meat consumption...
Im not stupid..I know if I was "on my own" and I wanted meat..I would have to learn to hunt and slaughter...Im already a "fisherman" at heart..
But again thats not the point..
Love
Dallas
Yes, agreed. Other lives end so that ours might continue. Even if you're a vegetarian that's still true. It is simply a fact of life. I don't particularly feel guilty about it. But I do think that we would do well to recognize the sacrifice made on our behalf and to not take it lightly.Well I would have to agree with Dallas on this. (I always try to say grace before I eat. And in addition to thanking the Spirit, I thank the plants and animal that have given their life so that I might live. I also thank the earth and sun and rain and the people who grew, harvested, transported, and cooked the food, but that's another topic. )
