Turkeys filmed being slaughtered as Palin interviewed.

Kathryn

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
Your right, I don't think it even crossed her mind, which points out the real problem.

I totally agree - hey, when was this filmed, by the way? I didn't notice. Was this a recent interview or is it a few years old?

Either way, it shows very poor cognitive skills on her part!

You are so right about this. Have you ever read the book "Dominion?" I had to QUIT reading it because I was afraid if I kept on reading it I would have to withdraw from society as we know it! God gave us dominion over the animals of the earth, and our consumer-oriented society has created a system that is so cruel and disrespectful to these creatures who have been entrusted to us. There are humane and responsible ways to use animals for food and other products, but if people really thought more about chicken farms, slaughter houses, commercial cattle farms, etc. I think most would be moved to make some changes in their lifestyles. Myself included.

Hey, at least I buy cage-free eggs after watching Napoleon Dynamite.

This being said, I think it is silly if this particular video makes anyone want to be a vegetarian.

I wouldnt litterally want to be a vegatarian because of this video...I've seen worse.Even beheading a live fish and gutting it is more "gruesome" than what they showed on the video. But still I thought it was tacky for the purpose of the video.

But it was a reminder I should be more appreciative..And not be such a glutton for meat..I dont need to eat as much meat as I do...As an adult we dont require as much meat as a growing child or young adult..If I put the effort in..(careful diet plan) I probably dont have to eat any meat at all.

Unfortunatley I have a taste for meat..I crave it..Im a carnivor!!!!! ROAR!!!

If this happened to Obama most of you wouldn't make a deal of it, or would defend Obama saying "it's not his fault some shmuck killed a turkey while she was being interviewed".

Forget politics, quite acting like fools and bashing Palin for something that wasn't her fault. I mean big deal.

Agreed, but what's your point? I mean I don't think Palin was ready to be VP at all but for gods sake leave the woman alone. If you had issues with her policies or views fine, but all I ever read around here at times is how much of a "moron" she is.

I think what might be the case is that she's sexy and charismatic...the dems don't have that [AT ALL] and you guys are jealous? I don't know what else to attribute your treatment of her.

Leave her alone???

She's putting herself out running the circuit...She WANTS to be in the public eye...She puts herself there...If she wants to be "left alone" she should get her face off of the T.V....

And Im not a "dem"...Im a person...And Im certainly not "jealous" of Sarah Palin..

Lots of women are "sexy and charismatic"that doesnt make them(neccesarily) capable of anything but being "sexy and charismatic"...

I guess my point is..Obama (hopefully)wouldnt be stupid enough to be filmed "pardoning" a turkey while in the background turkeys were being slaughtered..Maybe thats why he won?

Sure...blame someone else..I'de be firing some people..So what is your point?

So what you're saying is, if a prominent person in the public is asked for an interview and they agree to it, they should be critiqued at every opportunity?

Let's see Obama take office, I'll start the threads and bash him at every turn...you guys will support me right?

And Im not a "dem"...Im a person...And Im certainly not "jealous" of Sarah Palin..

Post a pic of yourself online here and I'll decide that.

This didn't make much sense to me. I think you meant to say "lots of women are 'sexy and charismatic' but that doesn't mean all they have to be is 'sexy and charismatic'?

You mean she doesn't have any other qualities?

I'm not so sure she was AWARE someone was stupid enough to do this. After all her FACE is pointed the other way from where this is happening. Wouldn't it be the CAMERA MAN'S job to say "wait cut!, get that moron outta there!".

You're right, while she's focusing on what the reporter is asking her, she should intuitively know there's a moron behind her killing a turkey.

Get real, get a grip and move on.

I do get a distinct impression from her that she gets quite nervous on camera or in front of audiences. When you're not comfortable being interviewed, it can take all your focus just to listen to the questions and come up with responses. I think that explains a fair bit of how she's perceived by the public. Not all of it, but a fair bit.

And it's not the cameraman's job to protect Sarah Palin's image. His job is just to report the news and get a story to his station. That job is satisfied whether or not his subject is embarassed.

I agree in a sense...I dont think she is "nervous" though...I think she could be so "focussed" on the questions and answers she is oblivious to all else around her...

I hate to say it..but that is what happens to mothers..they learn to "tune out"...Or go in a "zone"...

Its a form of "dissasociation"...

I don't disagree that the situation was "bad" in terms of what happened. But is it Palins fault? I'm not so sure about that.

Well, she's the one who hopefully cares about her image, so the onus is on her to make sure it's protected.

However, I'd expect that in a situation like this, she'd have some sort of PR person off-camera that would be in contact with the producer and hopefully pick up on things like what's happening in the background of the shot.
