Two adult females trick their jewish father who was dying into "accepting jesus"

I had an older friend who is jewish. He had two adult girls who joined some fundamentalist church. This fellow was pretty upset about the his girls joining this church and going away from judaism

The father had Alzheimers, and wasn't lucid. Apparently, his adult girls manipulated him into supposedly "accepting jesus" before he died.

Not only that, but they had him cremated, which is really bad according to judaism.

I just find it so appalling that they so disrespected the beliefs of their father . From their point of view he is now in heaven because of this. From a jewish point of view, one of the very worst things you can do is put your trust in anyone but the one G-D.

I agree that is a pretty gross breach of trust if indeed he was duped... it is unfortunate but a not uncommon trait of some religious folk.

This is a truly sickening story, but please don't use this person's story to support your own views. That's just manipulation, and it does not express any sympathy or display of sadness for what happened.

Now, hold on, where's the logic in the...?
But wait, what about the fact that...?

You know what, I'm not even going to ask.
This is stupid on so many levels.

That guy, InformedIgnorance, who was using your story to bash all religious people by suggesting this is just what they do. I was addressing his post. Hope that clarifies.
i think your exaggerating what he wrote, he said some, not ALL

Perhaps he did, but he put the word some in italics, so I did not believe he was using the word literally, more sarcastically.

But yes, I suppose I was assuming, so if he comesback and tells me I'm wrong, I'll take fault for that.

(back at op) He will still get a proper Jewish burial right?

That was very disrespectful and wrong of them. Since the man had alzheimer's, I am sure that G_D will forgive him of his trusting anyone but his G-D. I believe that G-D has mercy.

It's a display of very confused thinking on every level.

Which is normally expected from someone with Alzheimer's.

I used italics to emphasize the fact that I was referring to a subset, not all religious people but SOME; the particular subset I was referring to were those that prey (rather than pray) on those confused and afraid like vultures who feed off misery and convince themselves that they are doing good things. I know many religious people whom I love and value and believe do wonderful things - the OP however makes reference to a very different type of religious person, so I referred to them.

I see two issues here ..
The deceit of the daughters , which is unforgivable.
And the Merits of burial and cremation.

For a Jew this is not an issue for discussion, as covered elsewhere, Burial is a requirement of their faith.

Other religions have other beliefs. Until recently Burial was also a Christian requirement, and still is the norm for some churches. No Christian church has a requirement to cremate.
