Two Riddles (Prize? Frubals!)

Druidus

Keeper of the Grove
Answer either of these riddles, and get frubals!

You have been sentenced to death, but have been given a chance to redeem yourself. They have placed you outside of a room. Inside of the the room is a lighbulb, and nothing else. There are three lightswitches on the outside of the room. Your job is to determine which of the switches turns on the light inside. You may flip as many switches as you want, but you may only open the door to the room once. No light seeps out of the room anywhere. (Be a bit creative ;) )

There are three princes by the bedside of their dying father. He says that to determine the next king, there will be a contest. The princes are to ride their horses to the edge of the kingdom. Once they get there, the owner of the last horse to return will be king. Once they get there, they are baffled. All want to rule, but neither is willing to resort to treachery. They cannot race back, because they would be tempted to go slow and win. If they release the horses, it might take years for them to reach the king's palace again. Soon, they meet some wise men by a river. The wise men say something to the princes, and then laugh. Suddenly, after exchanging glances, the princes hop on the horses and start galloping back to the palace.

What did the wise men say to them, and what did they do?

As for the princes and the horses. They should exchange horses so none of them is riding their own horse. Then they race back to the King. This way is fair and each would be trying to make another prince's horse come in first.

Take apart the light switches and wire it so that one switch goes to all the wires to turn on the light. :D

Lightkeeper got the horse one!

Jensa has a viable answer for the first one, but it's not the one I'm looking for. She'll get frubals anyway.

Sorry Lightkeeper, I meant that once the door is open, you can't touch the lightswitches anymore.

Flip all the switches.

If you flip all the switches, you still don't know which one did it. You don't have to turn on the light; your job is to determine which lightswitch will.

I have been given a chance to redeem myself. One of the switch will turn on a light inside to give me a chance to escape death. If one of the switches turns the light on and off the room I am now in, then there is only two switches left. I would go for the first switch.
You're playing with death. What else you got to loose? Either you win or loose.

Well if jensas worked, Then I'll have to say take apart the switches and wire it so that only one works, and choose that one.

Neither of you have the answer I'm looking for. I'll give it to you, because I have to go.

Flip the second lightswitch up, and leave it that way for thirty minutes. Then flip it down, and flip the third one up. Go in. If the lightbulb is cold, it was the first switch. If it's hot, but off, it was the second one. If it's on, well, obviously, it's the third one. :D

:( This was going to be my answer:

Turn on the first switch and wait for a good minute. Then turn it off, and turn on the second switch. Open the door. If the light is on, it's the second switch. If it's off but warm, it's the first, and if it's off but cold, it's the last.

That was fun, have any more riddles?
