I commend the UK for at least trying to put in a fail safe. But.........kids growing up in today's society have no qualms about sharing personal information about themselves. That's just normal to them. How hard is it for kids to just nick some details from ma and/or pa? Not very.

I don't have clarity on the issue. I want children protected. It seems like a huge power grab by govco, because govco is going to install devices which can identify exactly who you are and with the help of a little AI what you think about issues in your own household even before you vote. Is that far fetched? What keeps the prime minister from having an app showing names with red x's -- names of those whose support for them is less than enthusiastic. How does this technical change involving porn affect that? Is it going to be the case that you'd better not say anything bad about your MP on social media now?

Not my country so I don't care that much, but I am curious about how these protections will be implemented.

A) Brits need to give corporations even more access to our data than they already have;

B) They need to protect teenagers from feeling sexual urges;

C) Teenagers won't find a way around this.

A lot of it is aimed at making sure pre-adolescents don't see it, as the numbers of children watching porn has increased.

British people use VPN's all the time to be able to access American news and other restricted sites.
Kids know all about these things.
They probably know more about porn sites and sex too.

The next step might be to counter those VPN's. MP's might be concerned that children are using them to watch porn.

I support the concept of protecting children from porn. It remains to be seen whether it can be carried out in this manner. If a parent is concerned about such things, they should already have software installed on their home computers to block and monitor such things. If a parent is offloading the responsibility to others, I see a fault with the parent. There is still the issue of access through the myriad of computers the child may have access to other than at home, though. However, I fail to see how any company can successfully verify age of consent. Scanned in or mailed in documents tell you nothing about who scanned or mailed them in.

The mere sight of nipples and genitalia causes severe psychological trauma, because a talking snake ate some fruit, or something like that.

I mean, this should be the parents' responsibility; it's not like Internet-capable devices grow on trees. But I'm skeptical to begin with that watching people have sex is intrinsically harmful to youngsters -- something that would necessitate this sort of law. Since there's more extreme content out there though, at most, just require a basic algebra problem to access it -- something like 'x = 3(2+9) - 5'.

Hehe. I love your naive optimism. I agree that parents should be monitoring their child on the the internet. I also know better than to assume that is always the case.
