"U.S. House approves bill banning transgender student athletes in girls sports"

WASHINGTON — U.S. House Republicans voted Thursday to prohibit transgender student athletes from competing on girls sports teams consistent with their gender identity, at the same time multiple GOP-dominated states are making similar moves.

The bill, H.R. 734, which would apply to K-12 schools as well as colleges that receive federal funding, passed on a party-line vote of 219-203. It has no chance of success in the U.S. Senate, which is narrowly controlled by Democrats.

The measure singles out transgender female athletes by making it a violation of Title IX for schools to allow “a person whose sex is male to participate in an athletic program or activity that is designated for women or girls.” Title IX prohibits discrimination based on sex in education programs.

Its broad language would amend Title IX so that “sex shall be recognized based solely on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth.”

The White House released a statement saying President Joe Biden would veto the legislation if it ever came to his desk.".....

"Those 21 states that have passed bans on transgender youth in sports are Montana, Idaho, South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa, Utah, Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Kansas, West Virginia, Wyoming, Indiana and Mississippi."

A tremendous win for natural born women.

Really? I'm struggling to see how, honestly. Sees virtue signalling, but perhaps I'm misunderstanding your system.
Through the lens of competitive sports that shows all to well the truth of the matter.

It's righting a wrong as I see it.

Not a single Democrat voted yes for the bill.

Don't quote me on this, (I can't find what I was listening to today). But..... A democrats said "its all about votes. The republicans will lose voters and the democrats will gain voters".

That's exactly what America has become. Nothing matters but votes.

And they perpetually campaign now 24/7/365 and neglect their jobs completely.

What's it righting, though, is my point.
What impact do you think this is going to have?
I estimate it not getting through the Senate, not having any impact, and that the bill sponsors knew that to be the case at the time they produced the bill.

Your probably right in that regard.

I suppose it's for attention to the issue if nothing else.

I wonder what part of the Constitution
they'll pretend gives them this authority?
Especially from the party that claims to
be for small government.

Male sports are fine though? Welcome all the FtM's?
FTMs will be at a disadvantage.
No problem.
And I suspect that it's less cringie to knuckle walking fundies.
