Definitely a call for unarmed police like they have in the UK but of course I think the proverbial Barney Fife will always be around.

Like these guys?

Guess he will have to keep his bullets in his pocket.
Not plural.
"bullet"

Reminds me of this dangerous government idiot....

And this idiot, who picks up his loaded, cocked,
& dropped handgun by its trigger.
He shot a civilian. Probation. No jail time.
Imagine what would happen to a civilian
who accidentally shot him....long stretch
in the slammer.

Well I grant the Brits their bragging rights when it comes to maintaining an unarmed police force.
Only most Limey cops don't carry guns.
England has its militarized units for that.
Still better than having every trigger happy,
predatory, disturbed, angry, poorly trained,
corrupt cop here armed to the teeth.

Same!

How on earth does a secret service agent have a negligent discharge, let alone get injured by one... And he's supposed to protect someone?! Scary
A highly trained agent has an accident, demonstrating how dangerous guns are, even in the right hands.
But, it is fine for the untrained public to own as many guns as they want.

The US is really barmy.

Define "in the right hands"

Trained and authorised
Define authorized
I ask because I have a handgun license issued by the state.
Which is no longer required to have in my state...

Since I have more than twice the minimum required number of hours of 'official' training required by most law enforcement agencies, I definitely meet the "trained" part.

Well obviously it was in the wrong hands in this case if this happened. You are right that guns are dangerous, though. They are most certainly not toys

I agree that certain firearms should be treated differently in certain cases. For instance, I don't think people should conceal carry unless they actively train with their pistol. In the state I live in, you just need to apply and do a background check and that's super easy to do

As for something like a bolt action rifle for hunting, that's a bit different imo

With the popularity of Constitutional Carry on the rise...
