UCLA Admissions policies questioned - medical school

I'd generally provide supportive evidence from centrist or left wing sources for this, but there has been an element of silence from those on this issue. Or non-issue if you prefer.

WOrth reading the article if you're at all interested in the topic, but a couple of relevant dotpoints (my paraphrasing)

UCLA standardised shelf exam results have dropped precipitously in the last few years.
UCLA ranking as a medical school has dropped also (6th to 18th in the US News and World Report ranking since 2020)
UCLA by their own statement do not consider race, sex, color, ethnicity or national origin admissions criteria (per FAQ: Supreme Court ruling on race-conscious college admissions)
The number of Asian applicants fell by almost a third from 2019 to 2022, with no other California school seeing such a decline.
Multiple insiders have raised concerns about affirmative action for minorities impacting on acceptance standards for the University medical school.
Some other possible reasons for impact on scores, etc, have been noted in the article.

Interested in dissenting opinions or evidence in particular, as these are not my normal go-to sources...but...near as I can tell this kinda checks out.

As far as the FAQ goes, it seems as though UCLA does consider economic class in its decisions. This isn't necessarily bad, but I think that if a school admits people based on class rather than merit, the school ought to create a special academic track for those students. So it might take such students longer to get their degrees, but at least they'd end up well qualified.

Those are called remedial courses.
