Ultra Orthodox men can now be drafted in Israel. Thoughts?

...Even if they seem contradictory.... in fact reveal knowledge and truth.

Peace Making.

What is more open minded than that?
What is more willing to admit they're wrong than that?

you were the one that claimed that they were scholars

which they?

Torah scholars increase the peace. It's a profound truth that the predominantly secular Israeli government ( and other non-religious Jewish critics ) do not acknowledge, because, if they did they would feel compelled to spend the time and effort to do their religious duty. And. They will feel profound guilt for the time that was spent on superficial nonsense.

So, they deny the greatest tool in the toolbox, and interrupt the important work of the bochurim.

That translation is pretty non-standard:

And probably many more. There is nothing about "Torah scholars" there but there is the prayer injunction for peace and all people of good will should join in that prayer.

I'm not a Torah scholar nor a practitioner of Judaism but I take it as a mitzvah to pray for peace:

May the light of His Silence
break in every heart.
Let there be peace and love
among all beings of the universe.

From that I believe that one does not have to be Haredi nor a Torah scholar to pray for peace. And I believe it is our duty to be part of the nation we live in not set ourselves apart demanding special privileges.

I think you're confused. My discussion with David is not about the men in the article. Did you know that?
He may disagree with you about that and if you were doing so why derail the thread so incredibly early? Your actions indicate otherwise.

How does that invalidate the method of peace making which is being taught by Rav Kook to his students?
It doesn't affect that in the least. My objection is to two things: asserting that a passage from the Torah says something it does not and a claim of special status. Every religious person of good will should pray for peace.

Further I have two quotes from Rav Avraham Yitzchak Kook in my collection of Kaballah quotes which use as inspiration. They echo spiritual teaching from sufism, hinduism and other paths and so help me to remember that the same truth can be found in many different places:

"Therefore, the pure righteous do not complain of the dark, but increase the light; they do not complain of evil, but increase justice; they do not complain of heresy, but increase faith; they do not complain of ignorance, but increase wisdom."

“All my days I have been careful never to pluck a blade of grass or a flower needlessly, when it had the ability to grow or blossom. You know the teaching of our sages that not a single blade of grass grows here on Earth that does not have an angel above it, commanding it to grow. Every sprout and leaf says something meaningful, every stone whispers some hidden message in the silence—every creation sings its song.”
