Everyone is religious. Everyone has some sort of overarching set of narratives that informs life's meaning as they see it. Whether or not they call it a "religion" is, in my view, besides the point. You can still learn how that individual derives meaning and purpose. What they celebrate and praise and value. How they understand relationships between themselves and others. That's the substance of religion. There are many times someone will not share in your particular story of meaning and value, true. There's an inevitability to this that makes accepting someone as they are an act of wisdom. Practice religious tolerance.

i dont know what to do
Most of my family is non religious. They know how I think and believe. As long as they do not ask me to compromise my principles we get along fine. Stay true to God and realize you do more preaching and planting seeds by your attitude and actions than by your words. Relax and let God be God, only he can save and truly convert someone. All you can do is be an example. Don't worry or be anxious about what you have no control over.

i dont know what to do

Hi Gavin. Good evening. I am using my tablet so expect mistakes, still getting used to using a pen to write posts. It would be good to hear more about your situation. Two days ago, my grandad had his 90th birthday. My aunt, uncle, cousins, sisters etc came to see him. Some of us travelled some distance. My grandpa is very good health for his age and his mind is sharp. Every Sunday I have customarily gone to visit him and spend a few hours with him. I love my grandad and the rest of my family but even those outside of my immediate family, though professing faith of some kind, have no real faith.

On the Sunday I had two uncles there, one of my “uncles” (married to my aunt) was there too (his birthday was Monday but I saw him on the Sunday too). And we had a debate (me and my uncle). And that debate was around faith. You know, I am mostly quiet when elders are speaking. I listen. The law in the Bible tells us to honor our elders (grey headed) (Leviticus 19:32). I always offer my seat for my grandad should they not be enough space to sit, for example. And I never come to him empty handed. But in speaking to one of my uncles on Sunday, he made the comment that sometimes you have to put your faith on the shelf and do what is best for you. Wow. I wasn’t going to stand for that, believe me. Now this uncle is a Roman Catholic. And I just waded in him. Faith is not ever to be put on a shelf. It is our life. It is a way of life.

So we had this back and forth debate and my grandad listened, hardly saying anything but with a bit of a smile on his face. I think he knows me well enough that comments like that do not go down well with me.

The actual subject was abortion. This uncle does not believe in abortion, which is great, but said that he felt it was OK to end a life after birth if that person was suffering i.e had a defect that resulted in some serious problem. I simply do not agree because I believe in miracles. I believe in Yahweh 100%. And even if Yahweh were not to heal a child with a defect, so what? If our faith only applies when things are good then we are not worthy of Yahshua our Savior who suffered unspeakable evils simply to give us a chance to be in His Kingdom.

At one point I asked, do you believe in miracles? Do you believe even in a Creator? And there was no straight answer. You know what he said? He said that he believes in evolution and that conditions change situations. The most nonsensical argument I have heard in some time. I said, when Yahshua died He was dead. There was no condition that could bring him back to life. Only Yahweh could do that. He was dead. OK. 3 days and 3 nights in a cold dark tomb, that is 3 days and 3 nights absolutely and utterly dead. It was Yahweh’s intervention that brought him back. You could give give a 10,000 volt shock and he would not have returned from the dead.

Now I personally don’t like quoting much Scripture with family, but the Scripture that came to mind was 2 Timothy 3:5. I know most of those who follow Abrahamic religions have denied the power. They have denied that there is any power in Yahweh.

Let me tell you something. Yahweh is the most powerful Being of this Universe. His Holy Spirit is real and given to those who keep Yahweh’s commandments (Acts 5:32) and the reason why so many are utterly faithless today is because Yahshua has been rejected, and the commandments of Yahweh has been rejected. Deep down these people who have no faith know they don’t have the Holy Spirit but instead of being truthful to themselves they simply let their faith become sickly and stagnant. If they were truthful to themselves there might be hope for them.

The arguments he was coming up were nonsense. Many times I let people talk and let their own speech actually condemn themselves with how nonsensical is, so much so I don’t even need to respond. This is what happens to all those who reject Yahweh’s Law. Those who do so make very little sense in their arguments.

My point is, I was appalled at this individuals lack of faith. I had to go to te basics. I had to explain scientifically how this Universe must‘ve been designed. I had to explain that miracles occurred in the Bible and occur today. I had to explain what Yahshua came to do. He said “be not faithless”.

I pray for my family. I have no idea why people just can’t believe in the simplicity of the Bible. Why people gravitate towards lies? Lies won’t profit one bit. My faith the Assemblies of Yahweh is a simple faith. We believe in Yahshua, whose name means Yahweh is salvation and we believe in keeping the commandments the same as He did. Someone said, your faith is too simple. Now if your leaders had all your people wear some kind of uniform, or had some crazy doctrine, you would have a lot more adherents. And maybe that’s true because the reason why the Assemblies of Yahweh is hated is because we simply adhere to the Bible.

Jews say Chr-stians have hijacked the Bible. All of the Bible tells us to keep the commandments. Some people use quote mining to suggest Paul taught a no-law doctrine but it simply isn’t true. I still don’t get how Chr-stians can read the Bible, whether that be the Hebrew Scriptures, which is the Old Testament or the New Testament and think that despite a cloud of witnesses proving that the Law should be obeyed, come up with a concept that is the complete reverse. Satan has really blinded people’s minds and apparently people like to be blind (2 Corinthians 4:4).

Ultimatley, I pray for all my family. But I wonder if sometimes people are placed in our lives simply to test us and our faith. Even so, I couldn’t care less if friends or family want to reject Yahweh, I’m going to prove my love for Yahweh the only way we can prove our love for Him and that is by keeping His commandments (John 14:15).
