Unresolved questions in Star Wars

This thread is to list and talk about unresolved questions in Star Wars. Here are some unresolved questions:

1. Did Mace Windu truly defeat Palpatine in a fair fight before Anakin came alone?

(I've found evidence and statements going both ways on this, and some people have made a conclusion on this, but for me, I still withhold judgement anyway.)

2. Did Palpatine use the Force to help Anakin defeat Dooku?

(I lean toward "no", but I still see it as a possibility in an ever-evolving Star Wars universe.)

3. Did Padme truly die because of a broken heart, or because of child-birth?

When Dooku was defeated by Anakin and betrayed by Palpatine, why didn't he expose Palpatine in his final moments before Anakin decapitated him?

That's a good question. I think Dooku was just in shock at being betrayed by Palpatine. Palpatine probably told him a different plan (which he didn't follow through on).

Skywalker's original interest in the force is its fabled power of resurrection. I think the evil emperor palpatine or his master reaches out through the force to kill her in order to bring his evil plans to fruition: both to anger young Skywalker and to make him seek in the Dark Side a means of resurrecting her.

There is only one problem with this theory: somehow Palpatine does not know that she is giving birth to twins. Palpatine only knows that she is in labor. Perhaps he cannot see inside her womb, or perhaps actors on the Light Side of the force are able to hide it from him, or perhaps The Force itself is conniving and tricks him. I have no idea why he doesn't see this, but I don't need to know. Vader never figures it out until many years later, so it is clear that something prevents Dark Side users from knowing about Padme's twins. This shores up my theory. Palpatine or his master causes her to die. Probs.

Palpatine could have done her in. Anakin could have also reached out in a dream like state and took her life-force as well, so that he would survive.

No, Palpatine let him.
(I've found evidence and statements going both ways on this, and some people have made a conclusion on this, but for me, I still withhold judgement anyway.)

2. Did Palpatine use the Force to help Anakin defeat Dooku?
No, but he used the force to keep him alive on Mustafar
(I lean toward "no", but I still see it as a possibility in an ever-evolving Star Wars universe.)

3. Did Padme truly die because of a broken heart, or because of child-birth?
Neither, Palpatine killed her using the force, possibly using her to save Vader.

Omissions usually account for plot holes.
I agree.
Though I do have to ask, how many people thought of Dooku not revealing the Emperor at that moment?
That it was not until after when they had time to think about it that they thought of it?..
Sorta a caught up in the moment thing?

Yeah, I think Palpatine underestimted Jules, and ... I mean Mace, and got his butt kicked. Afterall the Force is an advantage over Dark Side. Anakin was an ally, until he turned on Mace in the moment.
2. Did Palpatine use the Force to help Anakin defeat Dooku?
No, I think Anakin was finding his groove, and let his passions get out of control. Dooku was totally shocked by Anakin's power. Of course Palpatine fueled his rage.
3. Did Padme truly die because of a broken heart, or because of child-birth?
My take on this is that Padme must have been Force sensitive and sensed Anakin's decent into evil, and that stress along with child birth was fatal.

You know, I think yes on Jar Jar. It's just so Lucas. And he likes twists, but the Palpatine thing wasn't a twist for fans.

1. Was Jar Jar Binks really intended to be a Sith Lord?
No, but in late publications some Jedi theorize it as a possibility. I think the writers do this to explain away the plot hole of anyone (absolutely anyone) putting up with such an incompetent creature as a diplomat. Jar Jar's incompetence is one of the most objectionable plot holes. Its as if everyone around him is oblivious to how untrained and clumsy he is, so he makes the other characters look fake. All the smooth acting and carefully scripted conversations are just junked whenever Jar Jar appears. His mere appearance next to any top actor is enough to make them seem like hacks or cardboard cutouts. You're suddenly thinking about your chores/job/kids/family and what you need to be doing when you stop watching this film. Or you're suddenly in critic mode and thinking about what the props are made or what instruments are in the music.
2. Whose job is it to monitor how long a sarlacc takes to digest its prey?
Nobody's: The knowledge was revealed through the force and probably stored in a holocron centuries previous, but it could be estimated, too by studying how quickly things move through the guts and by examining objects at different points in the guts. You'd have to dig up the sarlacc, though.

3. Seriously, was Jar Jar Binks really intended to be a Sith Lord?
No. The late writers suggested it as a possibility in order to misexplain his incompetence as a clever bit of scripting rather than the huge annoyance that it actually was.

It appeared that Mace Windu was getting the better of him. Maybe Palpatine was holding back, since that was the pivotal moment which turned Anakin over to the Dark Side, so he needed that to happen in order for Anakin to make that choice. It was still a risk, but it appeared to be an all-or-nothing gambit on Palpatine's part. His overconfidence was his weakness, only this time, it paid off.

2. Did Palpatine use the Force to help Anakin defeat Dooku?

(I lean toward "no", but I still see it as a possibility in an ever-evolving Star Wars universe.)

I think Palpatine was watching Anakin and considered him as a potential apprentice to replace Dooku before they fought. Although my guess is that he probably would have let them go at each other in a fair fight, just to see who was more powerful. It wasn't until the very end that Palpatine saw that Anakin was the stronger and chose him to replace Dooku.

3. Did Padme truly die because of a broken heart, or because of child-birth?

I don't know if anyone actually dies of a broken heart. It seems a bit uncharacteristic, since she didn't appear that fragile through most of the trilogy. Maybe Palpatine was behind it somehow.
