I decided to vote for Peter Sonski of the American Solidarity Party. I wasn't sure who I was going to vote for and was torn (was going to vote Trump again but he's greatly disappointed me recently), but I was looking at my I Side With results and I agreed with him more than Trump or Stein (Harris was literally at the bottom, lmao), so I just decided to go with who I agree with more.

Do you understand what that means? It means, among other things, that not voting does not absolve you of blame. And it will not protect you from the consequences. There is no getting out of this.

My vote for president really won't matter. The presidential candidates just treat this area like a cash machine with private their fundraisers. No public appearances here, as our votes for president here really don't matter.

Being in the People's Republic of New York my vote won't count anyways.

I did promise after the 6th that I wouldn't vote for Trump for another election, but that will change after my promise is fulfilled. Probably not Trump after this cycle but if Vance runs he's definitely getting my vote in 28 if I'm still alive by then

They like to say “if you don’t vote, you can’t complain!” But I think it’s more accurate to say “if you vote, you can’t complain!” Though it’s not true either, just more true.

By voting, you are saying you accept the democracy system. Therefore, you have to accept the results, one way or the other. I don’t participate/perpetuate the system that allows people like Donald Trump to be president. It is both the Democrats and Republicans that enable people like Donald Trump to rise to power.

So yes, not voting does absolve me from blame. Voting for Kamala Harris does not absolve you from blame though.

Maybe local politics is better suited for a guy like me. Get involved locally, base my aim according to the needs associated with my own demographic, but not without considering long term effect. For now, I'm staying out of the booth. We have another 4 years to work out further details moving forward.

I remember when I was 18 and the secretary of the local Libertarian Party, we couldn’t even get enough signatures to get ourselves on the local ballot ;-; and we are supposed to worry about national elections?

Voting is the starting point for involvement in the political process. It certainly isn't the end.
