US v N Korea Brinksmanship

The threat (real or not) of military action by the US against NK is not going convince them to back off weapons development. Instead it will have the reverse effect.

No kidding.
Both North Korea and Iran were on the Bush "Axis of Evil" list, along with Iraq.
Neither wants to wind up being the next Iraq. Nukes will prevent that fate better than anything else anybody knows about.

I'm not really sure how much of a threat North Korea truly is at this point. At this point, they're just an annoyance.

In the next few years North Korea will be able to hit the west coast of the US with nuclear weapons. They are also approaching about half the nuclear arsenal that the UK has. I consider that more than an annoyance.

It makes me wonder if a war against N Korea would finally brake Trump supporters? However, considering the average Trump supporter, they'd probably step aside and cheer as dictator policies are installed.

I say blow them of the face of the earth before they have a chance to do anything stupid.
War is generally pretty stupid, especially as an aggressor. N Korea just does not pose a threat to America. Their military is so tiny compared to America's that they would be crushed on the way here.

An interesting article in Toronto's Globe and Mail today actually speaks in depth of the warnings of quite a few of the old "nuclear gurus" of disarmament, pretty much all insisting that we are now closer to nuclear to disaster than we were in the cold war. The list includes Canada's Douglas Roche (87), former Secretary of State George Shultz (96), Defence William Perry (89) and Mikhail Gorbachev. Not to mention Kissinger (93) and surprisingly now a nuclear dove.

I'm afraid the world is indeed a lot less stable than it has been for a while, and the new US administration is very much working in the wrong direction, in my personal view.

maybe, but they would be working at it for sure, no use waiting for them to do so.
