USA - The Good Samaritan

It is what it is
I think they stole my laptop. They spent two hours searching my truck, came off with my laptop, said they were going to send it to Ottawa to search it for child porn (of which there was none), and that it would be returned within 60 days. It was never returned. All I got on the phone was excuses and lies. According to some searches I have done online, seizing property unjustly (especially laptops) is a scheme that Canadian Customs is doing to raise money and get free things.

They'll be sending the money to Haiti... thanx for your contribution.

Oh yeah - you're the laptop guy. Well, an American customs agent read my diary looking for lurid sexy parts with a big leer on his face while I stood there and watched. I think the Customs agents on both sides are thugs.

ITT privileged White American Male whines about 33 cents towards natural disaster relief, supported similar destruction in another country at the cost of thousands per taxpayer.

Also, customschat: I once went to Canada and the border folks were very nice people, considering my friends were smuggling back quite a bit of beer.:)

I can't say that I give a dam about what happens to our deficit when we're helping people STAY ALIVE. Is money more important than human lives?:cover:

Yes, frankly, to the people making the rules. That's capitalism for you.

money has always been more important than human lives, not sure what you find so surprising by this

Well I see then that you must love Obama and his "spread the wealth" system of taking away from those who aren't quite starving and giving it to who he feels like giving it to. Bravo! The more of that that goes on the more people will stop trying to get ahead. We will then become a lazy third world nation.

Feel free to max every credit card you have with cash advances, take out a bunch of small loans, give the money to the Red Cross, and then file bankruptcy. At least it will be your choice to do so.

So how many dollars is a human life worth? Is an American worth more than a Haitian? At what point is it not worth it to try and save a life?

When it is more dollars that you have. If you disagree then you should go now, sell all of your assets, and donate it to a charitable organization to help diseased or dying people. When you have nothing, start donating your time. If you cannot do this until the day you die then, by your own reasoning, you are putting your own price tag on someone else's life.

If you don't agree with governments spending money they don't have, you should return your army pay.

If your neighbors house is on fire, you don't haggle over the price of your hose (even if you can't afford your water bill)

Haiti is on fire...shut up and get out your hose

But don't you see? This third of a dollar is the straw that broke the camel's back. Multiple wars funded through deficit spending we could handle, but 33 cents per person towards Haiti is just too much.

Edit:

lol.

Chances are if you are trillions of dollars behind on your water bill that your hose will do no good. The water would have been cut off long ago. It amazes me how many here do not understand the severity of the government just printing money nonstop. We will be like Zimbabwe before long...

Sounds like it's due time for a nice hefty marginal income tax increase then.

Edit: lol, you rail against deficit spending after making a living off of it.

My military income has never been a handout. I earned every penny and I earned every meal.

Then what of the aid workers being sent to Haiti with this money? Are they not earning their pay as well? Or do you feel that your military service is somehow more valuable than humanitarian aid? If so, please enlighten me as to why.
