Vegan Nightmare: Meat Based Plants

The Hammer

We've had a huge boom (and bust) in recent years regarding plant based meats. Next up on the menu is meat based plants courtesy of South Korean researchers.

Hybrid beef rice made by inserting cow fat and muscle cells into individual rice grains creates the ultimate franken-beef bowl.

It depends why someone is a vegan. If they object to animals being slaughtered then having animal protein not derived from that practice might be fine. If they object to animal protein in general then they will object.

I agree, and this seems to be a far more humane way to consume beef. The original donor may not even feel the needle that removed the sample. Think of it as an inverse vaccine.

Vegan nightmare or click bait?!

"The researchers first coated each grain of rice in fish gelatin"

Maybe the title should have been "pescetarian nightmare" :)

It would be a South Korean idea! They include beef and pork ingredients in so many food products that it's hard to try almost anything that looks appetizing if you are a vegetarian or have certain dietary restrictions.

Notice how the same story has been posted by two different journalists?!

From the first (the OP):

"The rice is also an appetizing shade of bright pink"

From the second (same photo):

"If the image itself isn’t unappetizing enough"

- The Morning After: Want some hybrid meat rice?

I saw that too. It looks as if two different articles were written and then joined. Perhaps they were lazy and the Ezine just posted both of them from a promotional source?
