Violent reactions

I live in a place where violence is not tolerated and it is cultural taboo. Even as Muslim extremists that could be swept away as easily as driftwood on the beach attack the South of Thailand the government and people seek a peaceful solution. The USA offered to come in and basically exterminate the pests last year but the government refused and said it is time to find alternative ways to deal with these types of situations as violence only escalates problems and creates more violence.

That's pretty sad that your government won't defend its citizens when they are being harmed.

I would easily act violently without sympathy if anything or anyone meant harm to me or my people. As the 5th charge states: "To suffer no evil to go unremedied and to fight against the enemies of Faith, Folk and Family: my foes I will fight in the field, nor will I stay to be burnt in my house."

What situation would you just act violently without thinking things through?

Strike my child and find out.

If someone were to intentionally hurt one of my children I'd probably fly at them. That's the momma in me though.

I can't honestly think of anything else.

Violence is ignorance from a Buddhist prospective. There is no evil only lack of education, if these people would give up their false belief in that which does not exist they would learn to value life as we have. As far as the government not acting they have evacuated most of the citizens willingly and moved them to safe areas of the country to let the extremists split into factions and kill themselves off, it seems to be working as they now attack each other over ideology and doctrine interpretations.

If someone is mean to Baggins, I'd beat them up... And if someone was beating me up, I'd fight back... I'm sure there are lots of other things that could provoke violence from me...

I've got into fights on instinct when my friends have been attacked. I don't much care about the honour of pacifism when a friend is being pummelled.

I have reacted very badly to Nazi types before, and it's fair to say that physical conflict is conceivable there.

I grabbed a guy by the collar once because he was driving like a fool. That ended badly.

I think I would contemplate GBH for anyone who hurt a family member.

There are many situations where I can see myself becoming violent.

One instance I know would trigger a knee jerk reaction that involved violence, would be if somebody physically harmed someone I cared about.

Another instance where I would react violently without a second thought is if I stumbled upon someone causing harm to an animal.

Draka summed it up for me, although by now it is if one of our kids were in imminent danger from another person (i.e. a predator). They're getting a little older and are able to stand on their own two feet more and more, so striking one of my kids would probably land you a pop in the mouth from said child himself or herself. But, if an adult were to physically threaten one of my kids with a weapon, I know I'd literally tear that person apart.

I am a grizzly-bear momma.

Peace,
