Thousands of humans have died in India have been tied to a massive death in the vulture population. The vultures were not killed on purpose. A common drug used to treat cattle is extremely deadly for vultures. When the cow died from various causes the vultures that used to clean up all sorts of carcasses would consume these treated cattle and die as a result. The uneaten corpses tend to spread disease and contaminate water sources.
In other words, even by accident man can mess up nature and then nature strikes back.
