Wars Over Oil

Jimmy

King Phenomenon
If you’re the type of person that believes the world’s gonna be around for a long long time, then you’re aware that eventually we will run out of oil. As we get closer to that day, do you think that’s when the wars over it would start? I’d have to say yes. Wars would break out and it would be unlike anything we’ve seen. I think all past and current wars would pale in comparison when those days would come. Do you really think these oil producing countries would just share every drop of oil they have until it’s gone? They would be forced to share it or have it outright taken from them from a stronger nation. It would be ugly. So maybe countries that are warring right now can stop and be grateful for the life that has been given to them because their future looks bleak and hopeless beyond comprehension.

Enough of that. Now on a more positive note, personally, I don’t believe any of this will happen because I think the Lord has other plans, but I just wanted to get the opinion of those who don’t believe the Lord has another plan.

God is good.

Nah. If we need to we can switch to a hydrogen economy, and any country can make their own hydrogen as long as they have water and electricity.

Personally, I think the massive Line project is an excuse for the Saudis to move from oil to hydrogen, they will pump water from the Red Sea and the Gulf and pump hydrogen gas/liquid back out, and *could* use multiple nuclear reactors to do so.

The Lord has already blessed the Earth with water, so what other plan do we need? We already have the technology, MBS is the triliion dollar man.

I feel your optimism but I don’t think an alternative energy, to sustain the world and its population right now, is realistic to achieve. I hope scientists do but I highly doubt it. They’ve been trying for well over a century.

The problem with oil is that only a few nations are blessed with it. The problem with scientists is that they are looking for "new" technology, ideally the holy grail of cold fusion. This is mostly driven by the search for knowledge of course but we would also kidding ourselves if there wasn't a commercial interest behind it.

Hydrogen is the great equalizer, because water is relatively abundant, as can be electricity whether it be solar, wind, or nuclear. Add on lithium as a part of the mix and we can replace oil. This is already happening in transport, and will give us the time to both repair the environment and crack cold fusion.

All the parts are there, so my optimisim is that we have a fail-safe. If it means our population doesn't grow like it has been until the "currency" of energy falls back to a price that we saw in the earlier 20th century as we had for oil, then so be it. But once we have a hydrogen economy, instead of carbon, we will literally reach for the sky, and start the journey to see the face of the Lord in the cosmos.

God is grand.

I’ll believe it when I see it.

We are well on the way of creating an oil free energy system. Nobody is going to use oil in 40-50 years max. The entire transport system will run on electricity or hydrogen and electricity will come from renewables and nuclear. Hopefully earlier. There is zero chance of any wars starting for oil now.

Highly, highly, highly unlikely.

I think long before we run out of oil, technology will allow another energy source to replace oil as the major source of the world's energy

Good news. The world won't run out of oil.

As others have already pointed out, there will be not many more wars over oil in the future than have been in the past.
Wars over water, on the other hand ...
