The National Park Service is near and dear to my heart. I worked for them for three years while in college. This year, we decided to get an annual park pass and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in helping the NPS and keeping our parks funded. Since the budget is uncertain and appears to be going in the wrong direction, support for the NPS is more important than ever. One of the best ways to support them is to go visit! Visitor counts and revenue generated by admission and souvenirs matter! It helps fund volunteer programs, restoration projects, rangers, and wildlife studies.

Here is a break down of their Yearly Passes:
- Yearly Pass (general): $80. This gains you free admission to any of the national parks. This does not included paid amenities, lodging, etc. On average, entrance fees are usually in the ball park of $20 per car load. Meaning if over the next calendar year you visit 4+ parks, the pass will pay for itself.
- In the military? It is on the house! Free! Costs nothing, nada, zip!
- Permanent residents with permanent disabilities are also given a pass for free!
- Over the age of 62? How does a lifetime pass to the tune of $10 bucks sound? Not too bad, eh?
- Don't have the money but some spare time? No problem! Consider volunteering! Rack up 250+ hours of volunteer service and you will be rewarded with a pass of your own!
