We are from that other religion. But we are praying for you.

What are your feelings towards people from other religions praying for you?

  • I don´t like it. They may be talking to spirits I don´t want anything to do with.

How do you feel about people of other religions praying for you?

I don´t mean conversion praying that you may become of their religion, but more like praying for you to get x job, or x good thing, or for you to be happy, etc.

Well, on a second thought, I would also be curious of what you think If they prayed for your conversion :D

*I´ll try to put a poll here*

I can't do anything about it, and it doesn't matter... Sometimes though, just for a joke, I pray against their prayer... Ha! Prayer paradox!

Btw, praying for you guys to my Existential God ;) Whomever that may be

I'd question their sense of logic, but other than that...

Well, if we look at this from their point of view, what they are actually doing is trying to use mind controlling magic to sway me to their views.
And I'm not sure all of them are aware of this fact... :sarcastic

It's not so much that I mind people praying for me, it's their telling me that they're praying for me that annoys me. Yeah, I know you think you're right. So do I.

it's all good unless they say, "see, god does work miracles"...then i would put them in their place and remind them of the other less fortunate people.

I don't mind it its in the spirit of help ... my version of help. But when its 'I need to pray for you cause you're a lost soul going to hell." Well, that's a little overbearingly religion centric. ... I just shrug ... yeah, whatever. :)

I am curious. You put "I don´t think it would help".

Do you not believe in power of praying?

A visitor to Neils Bohr's home once saw a horseshoe hanging on the door.
"Surely you don't believe in that nonsense?" he asked.
Bohr replies, "Of course not ... but I am told it works even if you don't believe in it."

Yes I believe in the power of prayer ... but only within the same context (faith) . For me personal prayer between individual and God is probably 50 times more effective. Depends a lot on the nature of the prayer. For example athletes who pray to God that they win the game, then thank him afterwards ... well in my opinion, that's just plain silly ... he didn't answer half the prayers?

I think it's patronising and offensive. Last year, I learned that a whole church meeting prayed for me and I didn't quite know how to react to the news. I realise that their intentions may have been genuine, but I was offended that they felt the need to pray for me as if I was someone in need of their god.

This is the problem of being one of the few atheists in a very christian community - they feel that you have to be 'saved' in order to be a full human being.
