Ok can I just gush about Encanto??
The songs are all still stuck in my head. The story is very endearing but much “smaller scale” and the music is beyond amazing. I love Luisa. She is my absolute fave and I want to hug her. Seriously, she is my spirit animal lol
Gods I hope Disney does some merch with her. Also this movie should be a damn TV show. I love it and I just wanted to geek out over it.
Like Felix and Pepa are couple goals. Like that is such a devoted man and I love him.

A common fan theory is that she is the new Abuella. And if you notice, Abuella has no powers. She is the conductor, not the player.
And I think giving Mirabel powers would send the wrong message. As Bruno said, she is the gift.
If they gave her powers then the message would be that you need to have powers in order to be valued. Which is not the message of the narrative. Which is about family trauma, healing and really valuing people for who they are

I also liked the theory that Abuella's power was building walls. The first thing she did was create the mountain wall, and the first thing does when her family comes of age is build then a door to separate them into their own rooms.

Mirabel, on the other hand, can break down the walls. She broke down the walls of the house, the mountain, and even the more metaphorical walls with her family to get them to open up to her.

Loved it and Lin-Manuel Miranda is a genius. My favorite song is Surface Pressure, and Luisa is the big sister everyone needs but not everyone gets. Whoever does is lucky indeed.

I'll see if it's true but from the videos I have seen it makes sense like she's the only one who gives orders to the house aside from Abuella and from what I hear no one else does...
