The best time? 11:01am EST on the 25th of May 2024? I wasn't paying attention to new threads and missed it. :(

I suspect that many people of very different times might feel just the same - as long as they weren't the ones down the mines (as children), weren't galley slaves, and weren't cannon or musket fodder in the numerous wars occurring throughout history. But life was a lot simpler several decades back even if the number of toys for kids was rather limited. And as to the pinnacle of technology, well it does have its issues (if one watches the news) and it is likely to be getting much more advanced in the next several decades so as for current stuff to look as ancient as cassettes and dial telephones do now.

Yes

This is a good time to be alive....

In comparison to previous times at least!

At least for those of us in the safety of the developed world

"It was the best of times it was the worst of times".

Sad that the best of times for me isn't on your list.

Yeah, the time I’m talking about includes several decades ago. I’d say from 1980 forward.

Yeah it is pretty good. Not sure if this is the pinnacle - could be we’re still in the foothills, but still, life is pretty good.

Could get better or drastically worse from here. Better in my view would be the possibility of living without the worst effects of aging to 120 or longer. Worse would be expanding wars and everything generally going to ****.

I suppose an AI apocalypse is possible, but I don't think it’s likely.

Well, there you go with your idea that you are a we.
In philosophy of morality it is called the problem of luck. Now imagine you were a not yet born baby in your mothers womb in one of the war zones of the world and tomorrow you are dead.

At least you are grateful that you are lucky.

I definitely do not agree - but being an imaginary "pinnacle" of anything is not necessary to be appreciated or enjoyed.
