I mean...Texas is a pretty red state, and the history of Mexican farm workers since the 60s has included plenty of exploitation.

I think this is a bipartisan issue, in terms of talking out of both sides of their mouths.
Of course. The oligarchs that own the politicians on both sides of the isle want the illegal labor. Not just to do their work for low wages and without legal recourse, but because they keep U.S. citizens wages low and make their legal recourse more unlikely. So both sides of the political isle are talking crap when they claim they want to stop the inflow of illegal labor. Because they are all owned and controlled by the same wealthy elite entities, and those wealthy elite entities want that illegal labor coming it.

So those illegal laborers will continue coming into the country no matter what republican or democrat politicians claim they want or claim they will do about it. The general public is sick of it, but our politicians don't work for the general public. They work for the wealthy elite entities that pay for their campaigns, pay their for their many perks, pay for their family members do-nothing jobs, and pay their high-dollar after-office jobs corrupting their predecessors. Make no mistake, those illegals are going to keep coming.

Please let us keep in mind migrant workers could help solve the US labor shortage. The US now has more jobs than it can fill. Fixing the immigration system could boost the economy as well as fix U.S. wage inflation. Hence, please let us consider amnesty to undocumented workers! Bienvenidos a Los Estados Unidos de America! Welcome to the U.S.A.!

Pay people a fair salary...the State has the money to give agriculture (farming corporations) incentives.
Instead of feeding a bunch of godless banking dynasties with billion dollar Seigniorage fees.

You want a socialist ownership of farms? It sure sounds that way.

People who think this way often say that Americans won't
do that kind of work.

That has been proven by some trying to hire Americans at decent wages and finding no takers.

But those illegals & their children
will become Ameristanians. So we'd need a steady
influx of illegals. This is not a sustainable model.

True. Getting to a sustainable model is something that is not clear to me outside of automating it with robots.

Some of that is going on outside of the media. Go to a hospital around me and most of the nurses will not be Americans, for example.

But I do like the idea. Set up interview locations at the border and interview those who want to come in for skills at every level that can't be filled currently.

Nope: Pay a decent wage to those who want to do hard manual labor jobs that Americans won't do. We did it during WWII - it was called the Bracero program and allowed people in legally for short term work.
When I travel and subsequently lodge, I aways remember to leave a two-dollar tip for housekeeping, I'd like us all to do our part in helping undocumented workers earn a living wage. ...:)

Why would you reach such a dynkenfloosian conclusion?

So you agree with me, eh.

Farm automation is very much on the rise. What's called
"factory farms" are fertile ground (like me pun?) for the
spendy machines that must be kept very productive to
be cost effective. Although I know one small farmer
(almonds) who designed & made his own machinery
that allowed his family to totally dispense with migrant
farm workers....cuz they were becoming very costly.

If we need migrants, this is legally doable. But we'd
need better quality leaders to create such a system.

I notice that Pelosi only wants illegals to "pick the crops".
This is interesting.
Does she imagine that all illegals are farm workers?
She says there's a shortage of workers generally.
Would she allow them to work in offices, stores, factories,
or in her business?
Or does she want them segregated in states dominated
more by farming, ie, rural states...no urban areas?

People who think this way often say that Americans won't
do that kind of work. But those illegals & their children
will become Ameristanians. So we'd need a steady
influx of illegals. This is not a sustainable model.
I'm confident if Ron Desantis were to send a busload of non-citizen migrants from Florida to Nancy Pelosi's Napa Valley's Vineyard, she would likely embrace them on social media as well as put them to work in her vineyard or find them work at Napa Valley restaurants or travel lodges .

Before I clicked the link I knew it was going to turn out to be BS. And it is. She did not say let illegal immigrants stay. She said let migrants stay.

And I bet you don't see the difference. That is one of the big problems in this debate. Just because someone is a migrant, or immigrant, does not make them illegal. The word migrant is not a synonym for illegal.

Until people realize that you can't even have a conversation.

She had to think and hesitate about it for a second before she said 'migrants'. Didn't she?
