Wow, I didn't know it was such a problem. I've always found it hard to lose weight, but it was only because I never exercised. It's been about six weeks, and I've lost fifteen pounds. Running and weight lifting do it, every time. I go about 30 minutes on a treadmill, or, preferably, outside (just that it gets mighty cold here, for running), and I do 3 sets of weights, at 20, 15, and 10 reps. Each time I reduce the number of reps, I increase the amount of mass I lift. At some point, I would love to be able to run nonstop for five kilometres. That is my goal, so I have to increase the distance I run, to increase my endurance, and consequently, the time I run increases too.
This has worked wonders for me. Very soon, I might reach my goal of 200 pounds, which I haven't been in three years.
Believe me, it is actually fat for me, it's very noticable. While I probably have more muscle than the average person, I also have more fat. (26.7% fat)
The problem is also aggravated by my rather large bones. It sounds like a cop out, I know, but I have massive joints and bones. I think it would take more to break one of my bones than the same of the average person.
As a consequence of those large bones, very little fat can make me look very much bigger.
