Well, hello

Town Heretic

Temporarily out of order
I'm a long time member at another site under the same name, but I heard a friend of mine who was disenchanted with the bias there had moved here and I thought I'd come and see why. I'm a former poverty lawyer who is reentering the academic life in route to teaching, my first love, so my time will be limited, but I'll try to keep a hand in.

I have a fairly simple faith, if you're familiar with Brother Lawrence you'll have an idea of it, though I'm not Catholic. I'm a moderate and independent in matters political and a rationalist in everything. I believe in spirited but amiable or at least civil debate and the right of every man to his own conscience. I'm not enamored of the popular demonization of the other, prefer the notion of an honorable opposition to that sort of emotional rhetoric...I'm a writer in the process of selling my first novel (God willing) and working on my second while rearing an amazing four year old named Jack who is an avid reader and a great help in cobbling stories. I'm married to a librarian and graduate of the University of Alabama, so my rooting interests in college sports are settled. Else, I'm a Celtics and Colts fan and have been for a very long time.

That's a good bit of it. I hope to get to know a few of you and perhaps find out what really happened to Quetzal, if that really is his name.

Welcome from writer to writer and from teacher to teacher. I am working on my first book and teach ESL for adults.

Congrads on your books. We have a journal and poetry sub sections in "The Arts under Everything Under the Kitchen Sink" just in case you want to share.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Nam.

Hello, as forums go.. I think there are lots of people here capable of thoughtful substantive debates on all beliefs, and for the others the 'ignore' button is always handy!
