Im Diderot, of course not the real one (or I would be 302 years old and that'd be silly), and I am eager to discuss religion and any related topic with members of all Faith/Non-Faith/Anti-Faith/Para-Faith etc, etc.. But on to the interesting stuff you all wanna know:

The only known species snail that can kill you lives in Australia.

Oh and also I consider myself a freethinker, happy to think about any hypothesis especially if it's new.
Oh (again !) and I'm French too (and they heard many American yelling "VADE RETRO SATANAS") so excuse my sometimes poor english.

Candy store you say ? Well, just back from work and already this forum is mouth-watering. Anywho... Marxist-Leninist Atheist as your religion... How does being a Marxist-Leninist could be qualified as a religion ? It does seem a lot more like economical stances to me, no ? (I mean unless you hold Vladimir Lenin's opinion on how religion must be dealt with.. ? ._.)

How does being a Marxist-Leninist could be qualified as a religion ? It does seem a lot more like economical stances to me, no ? Thanks btw. Its not like other forms of atheism as its a Dialectical Materialist philosophical world-view so I felt it was a distinction worth making. it's a label that comes with lots of taboo associations as it is and that takes some getting used to and this is also the only place I can really be honest about who I am without fear of being judged- which is a remarkable so I rather like this place and the people here. I suspect I might irritate everyone as I can be a bit repetitive at times so its hard to miss, but I hope that its just good to have someone different (or at least unexpected) around to stir things up occassionally.

My personal opinion on religion is that it is probably an illusion but that an atheist belief system needs to be psychologically fulfilling in answering lifes questions. That's more like the "God builders" in Marxism who did treated socialism like a religion than Lenin's view so I'm pretty tolerant and respectful for a Marxist-Leninist as well as being heretical in terms of my own ideology. We've got a dark past, so scepticism is healthy.

Yup, I can understand why the denomination would be seen negatively... those names are really associated with communism more than philosophy which, let's say it, is not the best kind of political regimes. So especially if you live in the US, I understand how you dont feel good with that title usually (I mean in the US even Socialism is an insult no ? xD)
Anyway, very interesting,it seems to me like seeing the world through materialism forces you to reflect on what you know or not and to come up with reasonnable explanation. But this is my introducing post so lets keep the philosophical talk for the main forum x)
