Well... I never thought the statement that "I'll Be Back" was still in effect

Arnold is just pushing it anymore, in my opinion. After seeing the Last Stand, I understand that it's time to let him go.

The Escapist : News : Terminator Reboot Coming in June 2015

Honestly... yes. Sure, the guy's getting old, but I frankly cannot imagine ANYONE else in the role.
Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson could handle it.

Please please please....I wish the Hollywood film industry would remember how it's best to leave timeless films timeless. Nobody should be remaking The Wizard of Oz. Nobody should be remaking Citizen Kane. Nobody should be remaking 2001: A Space Odyssey.

And nobody should be remaking The Terminator. I'm in agreement with the link that they should have stopped after Terminator 2 to offer a sequel with the then-phenomenal special effects. But since you're right that Arnold is irreplacable and still unforgettable in his role as the terminator, this is really really sad.

Can we just stick with amateur fan fiction for off-shoots and their own re-boots with tweaks, and leave the original untainted in our collective memories?

How should I say this? Hmmm.......you're wrong!
Sure, sure, remakes of classics will usually fall short. But remember how we enjoyed Tim Burton's Batman? The reboot was even better. I fear the worst with remakes, but I hope for the best, & I'm sometimes rewarded.

But I understand the risks. Some movies are such stellar & iconic achievements that a remake is almost certainly doomed, eg, Alien & Aliens. While others have room for improvement, eg, Star Wars.

Movies I don't want re-made:
- Alien
- Aliens
- Wizard of Oz
- A Clockwork Orange
- Groundhog Day
- Raiders Of The Lost Ark
- The Hudsucker Proxy

Re-makes I'm open to:
- Star Wars (room for improvement)
- Silence Of The Lambs (room for reinterpretation)
- The Usual Suspects (room for reinterpretation)

I can see your point. The 90's Batman film series became more and more dismal with each release. A reboot with a whole new vision, is a risk that can potentially work. But I wasn't reading The Terminator as being done in that fashion.

Not Star Wars. Et tu, Brute? :(

It would be a chance for Han Solo to boast of his Kessel run in units of time.
Or instead of being a mistake, the "12 parsecs" could be the result of a novel view on the physics of space travel.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.

I dunno. I think of all the James Bonds.......why not a bunch of Terminators?

I don't know. Too much emotion methinks.

BTW, I actually think rebooting the Terminator may be a good idea for this current generation, which sometimes seems to forget that nuclear weapons are a bad thing.

Arnold's doing another Conan movie too.

Hey I'm all for it. If the new films suck it's not like we have to give up re-watching the originals.

Maybe they'll re-do Kindergarten Cop and call it Nursing Home Narc.

The series should have stopped with Terminator 2. Everything after that was gaarboge. Just like how the Alien series should have stopped after Alien 3*.

* I acknowledge that Alien 3 was like the first Problem Child of the series, but since I loved it as a kid it holds a special place in my heart, so na-na! ^_^

I look at it the same way I look at the avalanche of zombie movies out there: they should keep making as many as possible because if they do, one or two are bound to be worth watching.

The general formula though is that doing that to a specific series (rather than a genre) turns out unfavorable results.

So in that context, I wouldn't mind more movies about Cyborg Assassins sent from the future - just as long as they're not a part of The Terminator series.

idk, I mean you can still pick and choose: I liked the first 2 Alien movies, kind of liked the third and the forth, thought the Alien vs Predator movies sucked. . .

I really think they should do a musical.
