Its really pretty stupid, but clothing styles changing.

I was in middle school when Jncos started going out of style. They started being replaced with flare legged jeans(for girls).

I really liked Jncos.

I really did not like those flares. They reminded me of Clydesdale horses. I did not want to look like a horse.

I bought a pair or two. They were not comfortable, either. I wore them awhile, because I felt I had to. Its what normal girls do.

And then one day it just occurred to me. "I don't have to wear this". And I didn't. And I was happy.

And then I started thinking about all the other things I didn't have to do. The things I didn't need permission to do.

Such a simple thought changed my whole life.

I think nowadays people can pretty much get away with wearing whatever we want. I'm sure there are many out there that still think Jncos are fashionable. I personally wear basketball shorts and a t-shirt pretty much everywhere I go.

Yeah, I wear some pretty fantastic things sometimes. People definitely care less now than they did back then.

It just opened my eyes, though. At that point, all restrictions, not just regarding clothing, but everything, was off. I could be more genuine with my taste, goals, opinions.

I could eat ice cream for breakfast, and stay up all night. I could buy an inexpensive car so I had more money for cat food. I could have a roommate.

Well.....there was that time I was raised by highly intelligent, STEM researcher PhD parents. So I now see the world via careful consideration of the facts; ruling out nonsensical hogwash; and considering the long-term (i.e. decades and centuries) consequences of my (and everyone's) current actions.

There are some things still socially unacceptable. I was once told "Get out of my yard" when I was on a public sidewalk standing for under 5 minutes watching a squirrel on a tree. But I see your point, people will be people, can't let it get to you. There's no law saying you can't wear Jncos.

Does that make you anxious?

One was the process of leaving the church and going apostate. It brought an end to the compiling hurt and torments and allowed me to begin healing from the wounds and damage it inflicted.
Another was after I graduated from a community college and enrolled in a four year university where I learned and realized I'm actually very smart and highly intelligent.

One of the most significant experiences that has had a lasting impact on my life was renouncing my personal Christian faith after being a devout Christian (evangelist, street preacher, evangelism team leader) for thirty years. It was a very difficult spiritual journey for me, but looking back now, I know that it was well worth it. It also gave me an inner peace that I never experienced during all the years I was a devout evangelical Christian. It has changed my life.

Several things have changed my view of the world, second, and one i want to mention, was being diagnosed with an eye problem and prescribed remedial eye glasses.

Letters, words, sentences swam into focus i taught myself to read, caught up with my schooing enough to get me into college and from there the world was my mollusk.

The other few things have been pretty traumatic so I'll leave them out of this thread.
