Again, I'll let Pegg give you the final clarification of what JWs believe. I wouldn't say that Mormons don't believe in an eternal Hell, but I would say that we believe the number of individuals who will end up there is infinitesimally small. In a nutshell -- because I don't want to give you a whole lot more information than you actually want -- we believe that there is only one sin which cannot and will not be forgiven -- ever, and that's blasphemy against the Holy Ghost. Here's what we believe constitutes that sin: I don't know what your background is, or your knowledge of the events described in the Bible, but at one point during Jesus Christ's ministry, Peter, James and John witnessed what is commonly referred to as the "Transfiguration." Jesus Christ was "transfigured" before their eyes and they were given undeniable proof that He was, in fact, God (not God the Father, but part of the Godhead, i.e. deity). Had any of them subsequently denied that absolute knowledge, their act of denial would have constituted blasphemy against the Holy Ghost. The vast, vast majority of human beings are never given this degree of knowledge and are therefore not in a position where they even could commit this sin. In other words, a simple lack of faith is not considered blasphemy against the Holy Ghost and all other sins can be forgiven. With the exception of Lucifer and those spirits who were cast out of Heaven along with him, only those who blaspheme against the Holy Ghost will not ultimately end up in Heaven. While the Jehovah's Witnesses don't believe in Hell, they don't believe the majority of mankind will end up in Heaven as Mormons do, but will instead simply cease to exist after the judgment (I hope I have that right; Pegg will tell you if I don't). Mormons, on the other hand, believe in a Heaven that is divided into three distinct "degrees of glory," and that pretty much everyone who has ever lived (including those individuals that the average person would consider to be the worst of the worst) will end up in one of those degrees of glory. We generally use the phrase "Outer Darkness" (as opposed to "Hell") to describe this place, completely devoid of God's glory. We don't see it as a literal lake of fire.So ultimately neither JW nor mormons believe in an eternal hell for humans?
