What a difference one year makes

That's awesome you came back to faith!! I came back to Christianity a few months ago after leaving it a few years ago as well. I had an experience of faith that led to others, and that is why I returned. May you be blessed on your journey

I came back because my life went to hell, same reason I found Jesus in the first place. Jesus saved my life when I was about to die and still every time my faith had been tested I've walked away. Go figure. It's funny how hitting a brick wall can really change your belief system. People pick and choose what they want to believe, throwing around terms like 'intellectual honesty'. That all goes out the window when you need the power of something else to save you. Then people look down on you for needing a crutch, but do most of those people know what it's like to walk with a limp?

In most cases you have to apprentice with a tattoo artist, be licensed, and have blood-born pathogen certificates (USA anyway,) etc.

If you do it right and correctly, in all cases you have to have an apprenticeship. You don't technically have to, but you won't find a job very easily because self-taught tattooing is strongly frowned upon in tattooing because someone doing it tends to learn more bad habits and poor techniques that way. And, of course, you can't legally tattoo, at all, unless you are working in a licensed shop.

Tattooing is long strange hours, with little pay, unless you become well known.

The hours aren't that strange, and you don't have to become very well known to make a good living.

I know. I have mainly atheist friends, and for the most part, they don't mock me. lol But, you have to follow what you feel is right, and if you feel a path with Jesus is right, then you don't need the world's approval. Having identified as an atheist though, I can see where they are coming from. Two groups of people sometimes talking past one another, religious people can be guilty of it, too.

My best friends are a tattoo artist, and a piercer.

Haven't looked into all states, - but in Alaska you HAVE TO apprentice under a licensed Alaskan tattoo artist, before you can get a license.

Having been around tattoo shops - it is a fact that you will make less then the established tattoo artists.

The facts are that people are smart, - and will usually ask for the professional, over an apprentice.

This means they lower the rates for your work, and starting off, you will get the people whom can't afford the best.

I know several tattoo artists that had to give it up because they couldn't make enough money, and the hours were to odd.

Most Tattoo shops also tend to not have insurance for their people. So if you get sick - you are on your own. This also means you will have to pay for your own insurance out of pocket - making you even poorer.

And then their is those retirement benefits - which most shops are not paying either.

My friends own their own shop, which is how they make money, - along with selling jewelry and accessories.
