Just FYI.. this is a common misconception. There is nothing that would limit a bumblebee or keep it from flying.Bumblebees should not be able to fly either.

The required genetic modifications are far too severe to be viable.
I'm more concerned with the ethics of patenting genes than sci-fi human-animal hybrids. Not to mention far too unethical.
But there have been doctors for whom medical ethics presented no barriers. Joseph Mengele the Nazi doctor comes to mind.

Could we potentially alter human dna to evolve into a speices of winged people ressembling angels in the future?
Patenting genes, huh? Is science always so money-driven?
Well Pete, sort of looks kinda like some of us will often have to generally qualify most everything we try to say.

I thought the 'title' of 'angel' implied a lot more than just wings that look like a bird's. So altering people to look like angels wouldn't actually make them angels, they would be humans genetically engineered to look like angels.
Or someone's idea of what an angel looks like. The higher-ups in the angelic hierarchy don't look at all like human beings at all. The cherubim and the seraphim, that is.
It's not being done by scientists, but by pharmaceutical and agricultural corporations... capitalism at it's finest.Patenting genes, huh? Is science always so money-driven?
Some of us have more biological training than others.Well I disagree with most of what everyone has said so far. Of course it's possible! Why do so many people under estimate human potential? I'm not going to post a mountain of data proving that it is, but it absolutely is. We could potentially alter our code to develop a magnetic way of hovering, constructed of natural biological structures. Figuring that out would take some serious computing power, but the potential for biological structure is limited only to the material and physics of the universe, and our creativity.
But what about my other questions? When is heaven supposed to be happening? Need to set the flux capacitor for that date, hahah... Spirits!

Meh, that is doubtful... Mengele is not known for having made any significant breakthroughs despite all his "research".There's a lot of things we *could be doing if* you ignore medical ethics and basic human decency.
"Paging Dr. Joseph Mengele ...."
I prefer the idea of flying not under one's own power. If you can get some machine to do the work of flying while you relax and just point it in the right direction, isn't that more comfortable? Not that I wouldn't love a set of functional wings... to fly under ones own power is one of humankind's oldest dreams.
I like walking... I don't even have a drivers license.I prefer the idea of flying not under one's own power. If you can get some machine to do the work of flying while you relax and just point it in the right direction, isn't that more comfortable?
I mean, I don't see a lot of people giving up their cars, bikes, trains and buses to walk everywhere.
