:confused:I am 25 years old and have many of my core beliefes established i do have some things i am still teatering on. though i know what i believe i dont know where i fit in. so here is an idea of what i believe I believe in an earth spirit. I am what i call an Eco Hippi im very green and dont believe in killing anything that will not cuase harm to me or my family.I am not a vegitarian though we do not eat anything chemical treated. I believe in rebirth in the sense that when you die your spirit is reborn into some form. I side somewhat with science on topics like evaloution, but i do believe that there are greater forces that cant be explained and i guess you can call that magic. i guess thats a sum up so what do you think ? where will i fit in ? WHAT AM I?

It depends a lot on what kind(s) of god(s) you believe in. Do you think there are "normal" theist who believes in one or many gods like Apollo or Yahweh or Odin or something like that, or are you closer to pantheism, for example? Some nature religions are closer to animism and so on. When you've sorted out the deity concepts you're usually much closer to one group or another. Neopaganism includes pretty much all of them, but it's not the only religion with an interest in nature. Some eastern paths put emphasis on it too, and probably many more I can't remember at the moment.

The Belief-O-Matic quiz gives some ides of where to head next, but it doesn't even include many smaller religions. Although for me most of the questions didn't even fit my spiritual system properly, I always have to go with really weird approximations of what I'm actually thinking.

For the record, though, I agree. It's not wide enough in scope and it keeps saying I should be a Jain.

I disagree with most of Jainism. I believe in God, for crying out loud! How am I a Jain?
I'm haunted by Reform Judaism, Sikhism, and UU on that test. Every single time, they're in my top three.

I agree; it's not wide enough. It should probably expand a bit more to include multiple different religions. Probably the easiest way to do it is to write out your beliefs in as much detail as you possibly can, and go on something like The Big Religion Comparison Chart: Compare World Religions - ReligionFacts and checking which ones you feel closest to -- but even then, one should be wary of it.

For example:

It says Confucianism has no God: not true. Well, maybe true for Neo-Confucianism and New Confucianism, but Religious Confucianism, based on Confucius' teachings, is specifically about Heaven as a divine being, rather than a metaphor.

It says "Chinese Religion" (Shenism) has "dualistic yin and yang" for Gods and Universe. From my knowledge of Shenism, that doesn't sound right.

It does not explain the differences of beliefs between Primitive Bön, Yungdrung Bön, and New Bön (not that I can blame them; Bön is diverse and little is known about it).

Don't feel bad. I get reform Judaism and Sikhism as my top two all the time. I guess the writer felt they were close enough to Conservative Judaism.

This is how I eventually came to my decision. The quizes can point you in the general direction, but you're really going to have to take stock of your beliefs and study relevant belief systems in order to make a meaningful decision.

Admittedly, it did help me to study up on Reform Judaism a bit more, so I am grateful for that. :D

Sounds good to me. :)
How long was it before you came to a decision to start focusing solely on Judaism?

I'd say close to two years after it was all said and done. I went throught different Cristian denominations, attending services and talking to members and ministers, and then I started looking at other religions. I actually took several looks at Judaism before I realized it was what I was looking for.

You are a human being, a living organism that lives on a rock which orbits a star in a spiral galaxy that exists in our third dimensional universe.
