What are the "facts" of Evolution?

What are the "facts" of Evolution? . . Make a list please.
This is like asking, what are the facts of cosmology? . . Make a list please. I may be mistaken, but I don't think anyone here is up to doing your homework for you. The "facts" of evolution can only be appreciated when one understands how it works, and without an understanding the facts probably wouldn't mean squat to you, so making list would be a waste of time.

Facts not Faith
This is a split thread from this thread:http://www.religiousforums.com/foru...15706-if-theory-evolution-true-what-does.html What are the "facts" of Evolution? . . Make a list please.

The earth is billions of years old.
Mutations introduce new genetic information into a population.
Not all mutations are bad, with some being always good, circumstantially good, or neutral.
Natural selection weeds out bad mutations and selects good mutations.
New structures form.
Irreducably complex structures can and have formed by evolution.
Speciation happens.
Fossils in the fossil record that are very simmilar to modern species are best explained by evolutionary speciation and are related to modern forms.
Simmilar modern forms are evolutionary related.
Evolution is not constant.
Separation of two or more groups of a same species give evolution the oppurtunity to split these species and evolve them in different directions.
Every species is evolved to adapt to its own ecological nich and there are many many niches occupied by many many species. Species will sometimes exploit new niches.
The fact that separate groups of species exist on large highly separated ecosystems while yet sharing many charateristics is a macro-example of evolution driving apart different species (e.g. Australia species and Asian species).
The fact that the fossil record shows an upward progressing in the fossil record indicates evolution of greater and greater complexity.
Most species around today have not been around very long in the fossil record and most of the species in the fossil record are not around today.
The hierarchial structure of the relationships of life and universal coding language (DNA) indicates common descent.
Humans and chimpanzees are close evolutionary cousins as indicated by genetic and fossil evidence.
Birds evolved from dinosaurs as indicated by genetic and fossil evidence.
Whales evolved from land animals as indicated by fossil evidence.
Horses evolved from smaller mamals as indicated by fossil evidence.
Land animals evolved from sea animals as indicated by fossil evidence.

Taking all this into account there are only two facts:
All organisms are related and all descended from a universal common ancestor whose origins is today unknown.
Evolution is happening today, even speciation.

I think biblestudent might be referring to the our frequent references to "the fact of evolution" vs the "theory of evolution."

In this respect, the fact of evolution is that organisms change over time. The theory is an explanation of the mechanisms of said change.

All of them. The facts that is.

If you had any interest in understanding them, you'd already be aware of many of them.

Some facts are more factual than others.
Here are some I like:
- The ToE hasn't been disproven yet.
- Computer simulations of biological evolution to design systems (evolutionary algorithms) works.
- No competing testable theory exists.

Humans are getting taller.
Bacteria is becoming resistant to more and more anti-biotic.
Aquatic life adapting to both fresh water and salt water.
And the fact that you have some genetic differences from your parents, who have differences from their parents, and so on, is proof of evolution.
So I'm the blood relative of an ancient neanderthal caveman? . .
It's a possibility. It was recently discovered that Ozzy Osbourn is actually a descendant of theirs when his DNA was analyzed.

So I'm the blood relative of an ancient neanderthal caveman? . .
Maybe. Do you believe neanderthal's existed? And if you do, do you realize they weren't homo sapiens? With that said, they resemble a man more than an ape or chimpanzee, so would this prove that somewhere there was a transition?
