Can you quote verses from your Book(s) ?

"Verses" (dont' know if we can call it like that) that make think about the world, purpose of life, that maybe help you in your life ?
I've never read any of your book(s). If you have links it would be great.

to help others is merit, to pain others is sin)

Namaste,

There may be many Hindu ideas about the world, purpose, meaning of life ect, me personally i find that this quote from the Gita to be inspiring. This is what Bhagvan Krishna tells Lord Arjun when asked by Arjun.

Arjun Asked:

"O fearsome one, please tell me who You are. O Lord of lords, I offer my obeisances unto You; please be merciful upon me. I wish to know more about You, the Original Purusha, since it is difficult for me to comprehend the underlying intention of Your actions."

And Bahgvan Answers:

"I am time, the mighty force that vanquishes everyone, and My mission is to devour all who reside in this world. Of all fighters in the enemy party, even if not slain
by you, not one will be spared."

"Therefore take your stand for battle, take the glory, conquer all the enemies, and enjoy a flourishing kingdom. Actually, all these warriors have long before been killed by Me (Time). O Savyasacin, you simply take all the credit."

Therefore it is Time that i pay my worship to, there is none else worthy.

Well, we chant from the Lotus Sutra each morning and night. It's written in Sanskrit, Chinese, and Japanese on a scroll which is our object of devotion: The Dharma.

You can read it in full here: http://www.nichirenlibrary.org/en/lsoc/toc/

We read Chapter 2 and 16 Expedient Means and The Life Span Chapter. As a whole, it tells us of rebirth. It goes through the laws of life/death, and in Nichiren's point of view, and so, to, Shakyamuni, they tell us life goes on until we reach our inner-selves (enlightenment) or nibanna. (Nichiren just has a more modern way of saying it.

There is a lot in the Lotus... but it's summed in the actual title: Lotus meaning the Law of cause and affect.

Nichiren calls it: Nam Myoho Renge Kyo or in Sanskrit: Saddharma Pundarika Sutra

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
I only practice Zazen and apply it's techniques with everyday living. Its really not about anything, but rather a practice that one lives by for which insight comes about through realisation. It's very natural and simple. Nothing complex or difficult to learn and do.

So you don't recite the prayers in your own language. You learned the language ? What is it hindi ?

If you wanna read an interesting book, you could do a lot worse than "Happiness" by Matthieu Ricard

http://www.religiousforums.com/threads/happiness.181474/

Enjoy!

I remember him :) but never read his book. He inspired a lot of people.

Sorry. Hindu. It depends on the prayers. In my rituals they are in my language or words I understand for that particular prayer. Nichiren Buddhist from all walks of life chant in the same language together.

“I am the source of all. Everything emanates from Me. The wise who know this serve Me with all their hearts. With minds absorbed in Me and lives surrendered to Me, they enlighten one another and find deep satisfaction in speaking of Me always, tasting transcendental bliss. To those always absorbed in serving Me with love, I give the understanding that leads to Me. Out of compassion for them, dwelling in their hearts, I destroy with the shining lamp of knowledge the darkness born of ignorance.”

- Bhagavad Gita; Chapter 10, verses 8-11

These words always touch my heart so deeply for some reason...

My religion (my own take on Buddhism) is about training the mind to be serene and aware of the possibilities of each moment so that I may lead a more ethical life.

Can you quote verses from your Book(s) ?

I can, but I rarely do.

I am not a big fan of scripture. I find attempts at explaining things by my own understanding and in my own words much more productive.

When I do write scripture, I take the responsibility to know and explain how and when it applies and when it does not.

Scripture is not of much use otherwise, IMO.
