Joy in the eyes, voices, or writing of others.

That spark every now and then in which I can feel divinity running through everything.

A clever joke.

There are too many things to list, and it's difficult for me to apply any rank to them.

Spending time with friends and family, including my animal buddies. Hikes and rides in the forest. Pursuing a hobby. There's probably more. But these pop into the head first.

Makes sense, maybe you can mention what brought you joy today or yesterday?
Just today, waking up, the rush of cold water pouring over me in the shower, meditating, the first sip of coffee, having access to and participating on this forum.

Yesterday, much of the same, with a couple of meals added and an invitation to dinner with my daughter and granddaughter (which I, unfortunately, had to decline).

Some years ago I was staying at a place on an Island of the Inner Hebrides. There was a married couple from France also staying there. One day, the wife got back from a walk on the beach just in time to miss the start of heavy wind and rain. She had, in part, gone to collect sea shells as a memento of her visit to this wonderful place.

As she looked through her small haul, she found that she had picked up a tiny shrimp with the shells. Regardless of the weather, she went out to return the little creature to the sea.

Her simple kindness still gives me a strong sense of joy.

Synchronicity ... I was actually thinking about creating a thread on joy, yesterday. In your mind, at what point does the emotion switch to joy, from say, happiness, or contentment?

For me, like some others, there is too much stuff, but a few would be: babble of children, alert eyes, flowers blooming, meeting old friends, smiles. One of my favorite quotes from my Guru: "Life is meant to be lived - joyously."
